Was listening to Hank Hanegraaff radio program the other day and this truck driver calls in to say he is basically wanting to know God or has turned to Christ and has become a Christian, but sounded like because he is on the road all the time he can’t just join a church, he listens to various Christian folks on the radio for enrichment/education etc…He then listed like 7 different Christian Speakers, Hank indicated only one was on point theologically and the rest be best stay away from. Now these speakers were are all very well known, so the caller wasn’t listening to some obscure ministers. Felt bad for the caller as I believe he had good intentions but I felt like calling in saying to Hank, Hank this is one of the reasons I remain Catholic. Now Hank is one the Media Protestants I do have fair bit of respect for and he did call out most these TV/Radio people and told the caller to immerse himself in the Bible. But what does this say for Protestantism when genuine seekers are trying to getting closer to Christ via TV/Radio and there is greater than 50 percent chance of them getting unorthodox theology. Think that the Media Protestants aren’t representative of Protestantism as a whole, thankfully, but TV/Radio is how many people get the Christian Message and its sad to see who rises to the top in this field.
