I don,t know how you,s feel, but I thing were getting closer to the End. Theirs been an Increase in tension in the world, the weather is changing more, their are more earthquakes,and now ,we seen pictures of the Moon turning Bright Red. Wasn,t this one of the signs that was in the Bible, didn,t our LORD tell us, that thier be signs in the sky. Now they found two Huge Black Holes,and other new Plants in the system, all kind of new things are showing up, in the sky,that we didn,t see before. So what do you think?.

I feel that we still have the same task whether the time is near or far…to love God above all and to love others as ourselves". Matthew 22:35-40
So that’s how I think about it.

Concurrence with the OP. I am no rapture believer. However certain things do seem to be in play. The planets etc. does not worry me. However the rampant, cavalier behavior of people towards sin today amazes me.

Research the Greek and Roman Empires, they were pretty sinful back then. More sinful than today because violence and brutality are more accepted in society than it is today. And within the empire, its comparable to North America or Western Europe today.

It is difficult to compare the evil of an ancient civilization with our own, but if violence is a measure our time surpasses all of the pagan civilizations combined. This much is true. And contraception too.

The nations in the Old Testament used to sacrifice their children to the god Molech. Now we sacrifice our children to the gods of convenience, “Freedom” and dual incomes. I fear not the end of the world and the second coming but of God’s wrath.

Lincoln’s second innaugural address speaks of God demanding back the blood and all the wealth gained during 400 years of slavery in the USA.

Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said "the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether."

I wonder if his words are not prophetic regarding abortion. I wonder if God isn’t going to demand the repayment for the blood of 50 million infants and demand back the wealth we piled up because we were not “Inconvenienced” by all those children.

I don’t fear the second coming of Christ. I hope it happens this morning. I fear God’s wrath for the mighty scourge of abortion.

I can only speak for myself of course. I personally am not endeavoring to predict the future. I am just aware of Saint Faustina’s writtings. I am aware of the rampant blood sacrifice to evil of abortion - however unwittingly. I am aware of Nuclear Weapons. I am aware that Israel has become an actual Nation with boundaries since 1948. I am aware of the volatility of the Middle East. I am aware that war is often a punishment for sin.

Certainly we all should simply follow the Lord and know that we -generally speaking - are doing what should be doing and behaving as we should be behaving and are where we are as the Lord knows us. St. T. of Lisseux (MSP?) speaks of her ‘Little Way’ apropos to our comportment for the times methinks.

However, I see no wrong doing in praying for our respective Nations and the World.

If you read Revelations you see many calling out to God to avenge their innocent blood. You see this country falling apart with in many critical areas. Inner cities are plagued with violence, drug addiction. Just watch the tv show cops. The banking industry is collapsing, full of fraud and malfeasance. The polical institutions and leadership are a disgrace. Education is stuggling with kids graduating unable to read and write. The family is struggling with epidemic divorce. Sexual perversion is deemed healthy.

Everything has a cause. These things did not come about by accident. Connecting cause and effect is difficult, but clearly the fabric of society is unravelling. We are spiritual creatures and we are spiritually very sick. Conservative politocos and commentators say what is wrong is that we have abandoned the principles of the country’s founders as articulated in the Constitution. If we go back to them we will get back on the right path.

Our problems are spiritual and moral, not political. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and … Political remedies can not fix spiritual illness. Spiritual sickness is cured by mercy and mercy comes through repentannce. Without that the country is doomed. The impediment to it is the disorder that says government is separated from God and religion.

Well, let’s look at the signs and problems from earlier ages and see how they compare…

1st through 4th centuries: Catholicism wasn’t even legal. Major persecutions and martyrdoms were occurring. The church was forced to hide underground. Even by the time of Constantine, less than 10% of the Roman empire was Christian. Gnostic and Arian controversies rocked the Christian Church.

5th through 11th centuries: Western Europe is in collapse. Literacy hovers near 1%. It was difficult, if not impossible, for laypeople to undertake serious religious study. Churches were under attack from Germanic tribes and Vikings. The beginnings of Islam in 622 AD seriously threaten western Europe. Spain and Portugal fall. France barely holds on at the Battle of Tours in 732. Even the Byzantine Empire suffers through serious losses. Again, controversy over several heresies, including Monophysitism.

12th century: The Crusades begin. General warfare between Catholics and Islam. The Catholic Church and Orthodox Church split, causing the first Great Schism in Christianity (yes, I know about the Oriental Orthodox…)

13th to 15th centuries: The Black Death kills between 25% and 40% of Europeans in just a four year period. Many think the end times are at hand. The Avignon Papacy causes great corruption within the church. The Great (papal) Schism almost fractures Christianity when one, and eventually two other claimants to the papacy arise. John Wycliffe and Jan Hus stir up trouble.

16th and 17th centuries: The Protestant Reformation causes the greatest turmoil the Christian Church has ever known. The end result is the fracturing of Christianity into many dozens of denominations, and the Thirty Years’ War, which devastates Europe.

18th century: The Enlightenment and French Revolution create a massive attack on Catholicism and religion in general both in France and other parts of Europe.

Sounds like things were just as bad in the past and that nothing’s really changed, in my opinion. This just points to the futility of trying to predict the end times, of which Jesus is VERY clear on:

“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief” 2 Peter 3:10

And of course as already stated:
“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven…but the Father”. Matthew 24:36

This implies that it will sneak up on us and surprise us, and that it won’t be easily predictable.

Yes as the Lord said like a thief- especially to those that are not watching. Will it be as much of a surprise to those that are watching for the signs as in the other relevant parables/analogies?

This implies that it will sneak up on us and surprise us, and that it won’t be easily predictable.

All this is true. He also said we would see such and such happening and said that He told us these things so that when they happened it would be a sign to us to know the time was near. He must have wanted us to have those signs of the times.

Also we seem to have a contradiction. Jesus gives numerous signs and conditions regarding the end and then says no one knows, but the Father.

Secondly, God is omnscient and Jesus is the second person of the Holy Trinity. How could He not know?

Well the signs that God gave us is showing, but to be honest, only God knows when is the end…
