My daughter asked why the pope choses a new name. I think I handled that one, but it got me to thinking…
Why do nuns take a new name? Why did I take a new name at my confirmation (a name which I have since forgot)? I’s like to elaborate for my daughter. Any help?

Hi LtTony, I don’t know if this helps or not but it does cover some of the traditional aspects. My aunt took a new name when she become a Providence Sister and I think it reflected the total life change she had made.
