Ok, moderators please don’t take this thread down, no private revelation here:D.

I have been having dreams about going to Barcelona:ehh:, the first one was about going to see Our Lady of Mercy. Of course I had no idea who she was so I looked her up. She’s the patron saint of Barcelona and, I believe, she has a shrine there, I was so excited (in my dream) cause I was on my way to see her (She’s also known as Our Lady of Ransom).

Anyway, that was weird, then I spoke to a friend who told me she’s going on a cruise so she’ll be flying into Barcelona, didn’t think much of that until I had another dream about a little girl who had lived in Barcelona and I asked her if she missed it and if she was going back:shrug:.

I don’t know what all this means, it just seems Barcelona is all over the place while I’m awake and sleeping, wierd huh? What do you all think? I’m not sure what to pray for in order to get some clarification on this. I guess I could ask St. Therese for a sign that He wants me to go to Barcelona, but for what? This is weird, has this happened to any of you before?

I just returned from several weeks in Spain, most of it spent near Barcelona. While there, my family and I made a pilgrimage to the shrine of Our Lady on the mountain of Montserrat, the spiritual heart of the Catalunian region of Spain.

Perhaps Montserrat has something to do with your dreams of Barcelona. If you are able to make the trip, be sure to make a pilgrimage to this holy place. I hope to go back someday.

Patrick, my grandparents made a visit to Montserrat after their wedding (early 1900’s) following the tradition of all faithful Catalans.

This is a delightful cd, mostly of folk music sung - and danced to! -in honor of Our Lady of Monteserrat by pilgrims to the shrine.

Thanks Patrick, I didn’t know Montserrat was so close to Barcelona, it sounds like a wonderful place. By the way, I love your books and your programs on EWTN, I’ve also heard you on Relevant Radio…keep up the good work:clapping: and thank you for all your hard work! God Bless you!

Eliza, those are some beautiful pictures!!! So this is in Barcelona? What a sight…wow!!!

Anyone got any suggestions on how to discern what this is all about? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated:thumbsup: !!! I’m beginning to wonder if I’m to make a trip to see Our Lady of Montserrat:confused:

Reviving the thread:D!!! I prayed about this, I asked for help from our Lord and St. Therese, the Little Flower.

I asked for confirmation about whether or not I was to make a trip to Barcelona, I got that confirmation…3 times:eek:!!! Yes, it took three times because I wasn’t completely convinced that I was actually receiving confirmation the first or second time:blush:…shame on me:o!!!

Anyway, I asked if I was to visit Barcelona in 2008 and the answer was an astounding YES!!! Not sure what He has planned for me, but I have committed to visiting Barcelona this year…in particular to see Our Lady of Mercy and Our Lady of Montserrat.

I would like suggestions from all of you on how to go about this…what is the best time of year to go, as you all know I have ds and he’s almost three…should I take him with me (I would love to), should I look for a group to go with (a group pilgrimage), what would be the least expensive way to do this, how much time is needed to make this a positive experience, and where else should we go since we’ll be in Europe already?

Your suggestions, advice, opinions, experiences, etc., would be greatly appreciated…thanks!!!

Wow. This sounds very exciting. I have no suggestions to offer, but I will pray for your trip. (That cathedral looks like a must-see.)

God bless.

Sagrada Familia (Holy Family) is the master work of Antonio Gaudi. Unfortunately the current structure is hampered by a complete lack of working architectural drawings since the originals were destroyed during the Spanish civil war. What they are using for constructing the cathedral is a set of concept drawings that were found much later at a school where they had been on display before the final drawings were done.

Sagrada Familia is also really interesting just for the fact that it’s the last place on earth that you can see a gothic-type cathedral that’s still in the construction phase. (Albeit this is actually Gaudi’s funky modern take on Gothic architecture, and it’s just a church, not a cathedral.) Typically it takes about 150-200 years to complete a cathedral. At the rate the work is going, it may be completed in time for those in their early 40s or younger to see the finished project.

Be sure to check out the ACTUAL cathedral of Barcelona as well, since it is also magnificent and a must-see!

Would you feel comfortable sharing how you received confirmation? I am a convert and have not yet experienced a direct answer to my prayers or questions (that I know of:o) and am always interested to hear about others’ experiences. Maybe I AM getting answers but I don’t know what to look for?

Sure, I’ll share…and this is not private revelation just sharing an experience. It’s long…sorry.

As I wrote in my first post, I was having a lot of stuff come up about Barcelona…I tend to be a pretty perceptive person so I noticed all these coincidences fairly quickly.

Anyway, I posted here on CAF to get some responses and then spoke to my mom…she suggested I pray about it to see if I could get some clarification. I thought it was an excellent idea so I decided to do a novena to St. Therese of Lisieux, when I did the novena I told her that I wanted to do God’s will and that I needed clarification on what His will might be, then I asked “Is it His will that I make a trip to Barcelona to see Our Lady of Mercy and Our Lady of Montserrat in 2008? Please send me a rose(s) as a sign that it is indeed His will for me.”

About 3-4 days into my novena I went to Mass and as soon as I walked in, there was the statue of Our Lady of Fatima right by the altar (I’ve never seen her there before) with a vase full of roses. I was skeptical:blush:, I told myself “there’s no way I could be receiving confirmation this fast,” so I called my mom and she told me to finish the novena and then start it all over again…this time be more specific about what kind of rose(s) I wanted. So I did the novena again and this time I asked for a pink rose(s).

Then a few days into the 2nd round of the novena I went to Adoration at my parish chapel…when I walked in I couldn’t believe my eyes:eek:, there at the foot of the statue of Our Lady of the Eucharist was a basket with a bunch of pink mini roses!!! I was totally taken aback, I had never seen flowers like that in the Chapel, what I had seen every time I’d gone were plants and/or white lilies and they were always on the floor, never on the pillar where the statue is. I was still skeptical:blush: :o, I know shame on me!!! I told my mom and she couldn’t believe it, so she said finish this novena and do it again, and ask for a different color rose(s). So I finished that novena and started a new one.

When I started this novena I asked her for white roses, and I apologized profusely for being such an unbeliever…but that I was human and I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t my imagination but His will for me. About halfway through the novena I went to Mass and there was the statue of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal surrounded by only WHITE roses:eek:!!! I’ve always seen her surrounded by roses and flowers, but NEVER by just one color or one kind of flower, it’s always a mix.

Needless to say…I got my answer…3 TIMES for goodness sakes!!! I felt bad for not taking the answer the first time, but I knew for sure that He wanted me to go to Barcelona to see Our Lady in 2008. I’m still not sure what it all means or why it’s something I need to do, but I can tell you that as soon as I made the commitment of going to Barcelona in 2008 I stopped having the dreams and seeing Barcelona everywhere I turned:shrug:, we’ll see what He has in store for me.

Hope I didn’t bore you too much, it is rather long…sorry:o.

No way, not boring at all!!! That’s amazing. I have always wanted to ask about the praying for answers and seeing roses connection but never knew how exactly. So why St.Therese of Lisieux? If I wanted to pray for an answer how would I do it? Hubby is a cradle Catholic but I don’t think he has ever heard of this…

The reason I chose St. Therese of Lisieux is because she has a very easy to understand and distinct way of answering…roses:).

She has a long history of answering prayers this way, many people, religious as well as laity, have received answers to their prayers by getting roses or the smell of roses, this is “her way”…after all she is the saint of “the little ways.”

I needed a direct and clear answer on this matter, a trip to Spain is a big deal, for me anyway. It’s far and costly, I’m not in a position to spend this kind of money just to take a pleasure trip…don’t get me wrong I’ve always wanted to go to Europe and planned on it…someday, but I certainly wasn’t planning on taking this kind of trip within the year:eek: .

Someone here on CAF told me once that discerning God’s will became easier when we prayed to do His will on an everyday basis. Praying for the ability to do His will with the smallest, most mundane things would make doing His will on the big things much easier to discern. So I started to follow this advice as best as I could, doing my own will hadn’t gotten me very good results, so I was definitely open to doing His will since I KNOW He only has my best interest at heart:thumbsup:.

I’m certain I have received favors and answered prayers from the intercession many other saints, Our Lady and God. Many of these other answered prayers have come with time and I have to interpret them because they are not as clear to me. In this case I needed a very clear and precise answer, I was also specific about when it should be done and she is the only saint, that I know of, that gives a very clear sign. If I hadn’t gotten any roses I would have interpreted it as a sign that I was not to make this trip.

I would say to start by praying asking for her intercession, I think novenas are an excellent way to do this. Then tell her what you are trying to discern, then make your petition clear, for example I said “Is it His will that I make a trip to Barcelona to see Our Lady of Mercy and Our Lady of Montserrat in 2008?” As you can see I was very specific with my question, it was a simple yes(roses) or no(no roses).

I still pray for her intercession…but not for me, I tell her to take my prayers and use them wherever God needs them. I do this in thanksgiving for her intercession for me and getting me the answer I needed. I hope this helps you in the deepening of your prayer life…and I must add, it takes A LOT of trust to accept the answers to your prayers:hmmm:, it’s not always easy:shrug:.
