What's Not to Love?!

Again, it doesn’t exist. The term ‘church’ is so watered down that there are many people who are just a church of one. Everyone has a bias. Catholics just acknowledge ours, Jesus and His bride the Church.

I love kage_ar’s suggestion of speaking with Jesus in the Eucharist. I never thought I would ever end up in Eucharistic Adoration. Oh how much I miss it since being home-bound! You can do a practice version of it that will be as close as you can get right now while you are not able to get to adoration. Sit down across from a favorite crucifix or other icon of Jesus. Talk with Jesus. (At home you can do it out loud if you want, in Adoration you would have to speak silently.)

Tell Jesus your concerns. He’s real. Tell Him what you dislike about the Church. Let Him know that you have doubts that the Church is really His Bride. Tell Him where you think She might be a counterfeit Bride. Then listen to His answer. Keep speaking with Him. When you can get to Adoration speak with Him in person. (The icons are more of a “speaking over the phone” version.) Talk with Him, even silently if you are more comfortable that way. But talk and then listen. He has one bride and He wants you to know Her. To know the bride is to know The Groom, for we know that in marriage “two become one.”

You’ve been in my prayers today. I have been offering up my suffering for yours. God bless you.

Thank you! I’m actually doing really good with my prayer life for the past few days. :o I know that’s just nothing but hey, gotta start somewhere, right? 🙂
By building the relationship with Christ, I’m hoping to “be led” where I’m supposed to be. I’m putting my trust in God on this one. For too long I have tried to do things MY way and obviously it hasn’t worked out.
The main purpose behind this thread is to see what has worked for others, mainly Protestants, because I’m already familiar with Catholicism.
Thank you for praying for me. There’s no such thing as too much prayer. 👍

Every author writes from their own particular church background.

If you mean non-Catholic - my first suggestion would be C. S. Lewis, Miracles is a great starter.

My mom reads stuff from Joel Osteen. Any opinions on him? I don’t know anything about him except that him and his wife, Victoria, have a ministry somewhere together.

He is very much a “Prosperity Gospel” aka “Health and Wealth” or “Name it and Claim It” preacher. If you are not rich and healthy, then you don’t have enough FAITH, God wants us to be happy all the time kind of teacher.

Problem is, Jesus told us that we would suffer for His sake, and that we should be poor in spirit.
