That whole “pillar and foundation of truth” thing ain’t too bad.

Where else could you receive Christ…only in the Holy Eucharist and if that were the only thing (which it’s not) that would be enough!!!

The spirituality, depth, continuity, steadfastness, diversity (world-wide, all cultures, different rites within the Church), focus on Christ, love, Sacraments, the Eucharist…

…I could go on, and even if I did, I still would not be able to express all the things about Christ’s Church…👍

There are so many reasons, and I believe it will take forever to respond. Therefore, I’d like to pick one of those reasons to list and the rests for our members here to respond:
  • we are not afraid to call Mary - the Mother of God. 😉

There are seven primary reasons:
  1. Baptism
  2. Confession
  3. Holy Communion
  4. Confirmation
  5. Matrimony
  6. Holy Orders
  7. Anointing of the Sick
There are numerous lesser reasons, but I’ll leave some for others to mention. 👍 God bless.

To the Pepsi tune…a psalm of Harry:harp:

“Roman Catholics hit the spot.
12 Apostles, that a lot.
All the Saints and the Virgin too,
The Roman Church is the place for you!”

And I wonder how much penance I will be assigned for THAT:rolleyes:

On a more serious note (pardon the pun), this must come from an interiors conversion of the heart, from a personal experience of divine help. In my case, staying sober with the intervention of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Last October I had a faith-sharing day with several non-C Christian businessmen I work with.

I came away stunned. They have no certainty once they disagree with a pastor over interpretation of Scripture. Until that day I knew this in my head, but being confronted with it like that, several men from different denominations and a couple who no longer attended formal services, was an eye-opener.
What’s so great about being Catholic?QUOTE]We have a shepherd.

It is the truth. And Jesus gave it to all of us.

My other 3 favorite reasons for being Catholic are (in no particular order :D)
  1. Father
  2. Son
  3. Holy Spirit

I found this on a website and it’s great!! 👍

10.) It’s politically incorrect. (Annoy the Catholic bashers).

9.) You can sing badly, and no one cares. (9 out of 10 American Catholics are musically impaired).

8.) You can impress your friends. (Tell them you belong to a militant international institution).

7.) Your Mother. (Low cost way to keep her happy).

6.) Great Weddings! (When it comes to ceremony, the Catholic Church is smokin’).

5.) Great Pope!

4.) Saints. (Talk about friends in high places!)

3.) Confession. (No, it’s not fun, but what a deal).

2.) Dependability. (Jesus founded our Chuch on Peter, the rock, and promised that the gates of hell should not prevail against It.)

And the number one reason to stay Roman Catholic is the awesome gift of… (Drum roll, please…)

THE EUCHARIST!

"He who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood will have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day. For My Flesh is real food and My Blood is real drink. He who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood lives in Me and I in him."
- John 6:54-56

Oh! This Church that our Lord gave us is so awesome that until you really know Her you cannot imagine Her beauty.

Everyday you can go to Our Lord so personally and recieve Him (unworthy as we are).
We can sit with Him in Adoration and not say a word. He just looks at us and we just look at Him.
We hear more Scripture every Mass than other faiths.
We have examples of great saints to model ourselves after.
We have a very large family(here and in heaven) to go to for help when we need it.
7 Sacraments to strengthen us on our journey.
We love God so, that we would never deny Him the thought of a perfect Mother.
We can look at a crucifix and know that our suffering has meaning.
We can know that we join the rest of the world in having a Savior.
We can go to Mass and kneel before God because we are not worthy to stand.
We can go to Mass and pray instead of listening to someone elses idea of what God wants from us or alot of music to hype me up.

etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

The way it makes me feel truly says it all!! Besides that…

The body and blood of Jesus in the eucharist
The sacrements
The truth
Founded by Jesus
The richness and tradition of the faith
Having JPII as our Pope
The rosary
Mary
The love of the Catholic faith that my grandparents gave me
The comfort
The love

…most of all…the way it makes me feel!!

God’s blessings on all of you!!!

I don’t think it is “great” as you use the word. I think it is hard to be a good Catholic, but I believe. Tim
