What's the alternative to legalized abortion?

So here is my question to you. If we banned abortion and we had to find an alternative, what would it be? I think the only solution would be to build a few thousnd orphanages. But I can’t help but wonder what the mental state of those children would be. I mean, think about it, right now we can’t even get people to adopt domestic and hardly any child that passes the age of five gets adopted because people want babies. And did you know that if you adopt a black child you get a fifty-percent discount because they hardly even have a chance when they are babies? Yeah, sad, but true in most cases. And how would you balance supply and demand for 1.3 millon children a year? And you know society would give these children an unwanted status. That would suck growing up in an orphanage, hoping that today is the day I meet my new mommy and daddy but they never even look at me. The unwanted generation. But I guess it beats being aborted, right?

Respectfully, sir, I fear that you haven’t quite grasped the concept of what “being aborted” means. If you did, then your question should be “But I guess it beats being murdered, right?”

Abortion is the dismemberment and murder of a defenseless child in his or her mother’s womb. Once we understand that, then we understand that of course a difficult life is preferable to being painfully murdered.

Nevertheless, your scenario of what would happen to “unwanted” children is inaccurate. Many, many people wait for years to adopt a child, any child, but cannot because adoption has been buried under red tape, made hideously expensive, and runs the risk that the child adopted will be legally snatched away by biological parents who change their minds. Meanwhile, abortion is “sold” as an easy, relatively inexpensive (from a strict monetary standpoint) alternative. Faced with those prospects, can potential adoptive parents be blamed for hesitation to adopt and can biological parents be blamed for leaning toward a “choice” for abortion that has been all but predetermined for them?
