I used the Fr. Lasance Missal and love it. Great review of the Mass History. It is certainly eye opening.
Iām stuck between the Baronius and the Angelus. Iāll probably end up gettin both eventually, but I canāt decide which one I should get first. Which one do you like better (Iām guessing the Angelus)? Does either one have something the other doesnāt have?I guess that Iām a glutton for missals. I have the Angelus, Baronius and Fr. Lasance missals. I love all three. I will say however, that the Angelus missal has a wonderful explanation of the Mass.

Totally not. I just donāt want to give my money to the SSPX. It isnāt the missal I take issue with, itās giving my money to the SSPX. I currently use one published in 1958.Interesting. Would you have the same problems using a 1945 Missal published by an āin full communionā publisher?
Thatās up to you, but for the record:I just donāt want to give my money to the SSPX. It isnāt the missal I take issue with, itās giving my money to the SSPX.
LETTER OF THE PONTIFICAL COMMISSION āECCLESIA DEIā
Under Signature of Rev. Msgr. Camille Perl, Secretary
May 28, 1996; repeated in Protocol N. 236/98 of March 6, 1998
Code:"It is true that participation in the Mass and sacraments at the chapels of the Society of St. Pius X does not of itself constitute 'formal adherence to the schism.'"
September 27, 2002
Code:1. In the strict sense you may fulfill your Sunday obligation by attending a Mass celebrated by a priest of the Society of Saint Pius X.
Code:2. ...If your intention is simply to participate in Mass according to the 1962 Missal for the sake of devotion, this would not be a sin.
Code:**3. It would seem that a modest contribution to the collection at Mass could be justified.**
Why not? Iām sure youāve bought things from protestant sources. The SSPX is a part of the Church. Whether or not you want to recognize that.Imprimatur or no, I refuse to financially support the SSPX in any way, shape or form.
Indeed! Iāve been copying that section to Word to give to folks, Currntly about halfway through. Hope Iām not breaking copyright laws!I will say however, that the Angelus missal has a wonderful explanation of the Massā¦
I donāt know about copyrights, but I donāt see why the SSPX and Angelus Press would be mad youāre making an effort to try and get people to the TLM.Indeed! Iāve been copying that section to Word to give to folks, Currntly about halfway through. Hope Iām not breaking copyright laws!

The site says the reprint has the oridinary in both Latin and English, yet I have a 1942 Steadman missal and it only has English - no Latin at all. Was the Latin added in later editions? I was disappointed when I bought the 1942 missal because it didnāt have the Latin, even though I really like its other aspects, such as itās tiny size and easy-to-read text.(5) 1962 Missal (My Sunday Missal explained by Father Stedman (Latin Tridentine pre-1962)
This is a Pocket Missal 3-1/8ā x 5-1/8ā and 512 pages. Just brought back into print by Neuman Press. It is very nice and compact. This is the definitive and complete Sunday Missal printed in ease read type.
Includes a full page analysis, along with a small illustration, devoted each Sunday and Feast to the special theme of each Mass; each Mass has a catechism lesson and covers the entire catechism in the course of the year; Masses designated for special Votive Masses; explanation of the Mass vessels and vestments; Prayer Before Mass; prayers every Catholic should know; rosary meditations, morning and evening prayers, preparation for confession; after Communion prayers, etc (links for this Missal:neumannpress.com/mysundaymissal.html and neumannpress.com/catalogue.html

No, I do not, have not, and will not buy protestant books. I do not buy their bibles, āinspirationalā works, etc. I wonāt and donāt.Why not? Iām sure youāve bought things from protestant sources. The SSPX is a part of the Church. Whether or not you want to recognize that.
For the record, I use the Angelus Press Missal. I looked at it and the Baronius Press one. The main selling point for me was typesize. The print in the Angelus Press missal is easier to read.
Iāve thought about doing that myself. Copyrights are only good for 50 years and the missals I have are way older than that. I looked them up on the Library of Congress and the most recent copyright for my Lasance Missal, for instance is in the 1940ās. I get conflicting stories of which missal the Angelus is a reprint of: the text says āIdeal missalā but thatās never turned up in any of the webpages I looked at.Indeed! Iāve been copying that section to Word to give to folks, Currntly about halfway through. Hope Iām not breaking copyright laws!

The one I have is 1938 to 1942, itās listed as the 24th printing. The ordinary of the mass, beginning on pg 35 does have Latin and English. The site says the reprint has the oridinary in both Latin and English, yet I have a 1942 Steadman missal and it only has English - no Latin at all. Was the Latin added in later editions? I was disappointed when I bought the 1942 missal because it didnāt have the Latin, even though I really like its other aspects, such as itās tiny size and easy-to-read text.
I think that there were some that did not contain any Latin, but do not quote me on that. The site says the reprint has the oridinary in both Latin and English, yet I have a 1942 Steadman missal and it only has English - no Latin at all. I was disappointed when I bought the 1942 missal because it didnāt have the Latin, even though I really like its other aspects, such as itās tiny size and easy-to-read text.
I did a similar thing with my Angelus Press Missal, except I used Post-it flags so I could move them around if I needed to. My St. Andrewās Missal also doesnāt have the congregation rubrics. In the Lasance Missal, it indicates that there ARE no congregational rubrics for a High Mass, and what it has is the rubrics for the choir, so maybe it was common for these books to omit that info. One word of caution about the Angelus Press Missalā¦
It doesnāt have instructions on when to SIT, STAND, KNEEL or GENUFLECT in the ordinary of the Mass. I penciled it in on mine and my wifeās. Maybe I just got too used using those little red Ecclesia Dei books. Other than that itās totally AWESOME! Got mine last Christmas and itās been a real treat with tons of prayers, devotions, information etcā¦
