The best advice I ever received from a priest was something along the lines of

“Wanting a particular vocation is not the same thing as actually having it. You can’t force yourself into a vocation that you have not been given.”

James

From my Spiritual Director:
…keep your head down and do your duty

and the prayer he has taught thousands:
"Jesus, I love you, possess me

Don’t talk about the major matters of the faith with Deacons who were ordained in the 70’s- 90’s, and only smile to their wives, especially the ones who always push to be involved liturgically.

God Bless

From my mother’s confessor:

“Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Just because you’ve been hurt by ugly Christians does not mean Christianity is ugly. The followers are not the Faith.”

Responding to my “Jesus, save me from your followers” button.

Good priest. Wonderful man. Rest in peace.

When discussing the death of my then fiance’s 13 year old brother (he had only been dead for a year), the priest told us that it was okay to be mad at God. He could take it.

Boy, that helped.
