Just checking in to see if everyone has their basement dug and purchased their firearms.
😃
Because? Not sure I understand this quote.
I almost forgot! I don’t have a basement. I don’t even have an attic. But I do have a loft. And a chicken house. Will those do? I’d hide the guns in the barn but my donkeys would eat them. šŸ˜‰
Yeah, but what about the:eek: chickens???

Modeled after, perhaps…but Jesus wasn’t condemned to death in Rome. By the Roman government, yes, but His trials took place in Jerusalem. It can’t be the actual stairs.
The Holy Staircase (La Scala Santa) are in the Lateran in Rome, the Pope’s own cathedral as bishop of Rome. They are said to be the real staircase brought from Jerusalem. I didn’t go up the stairs on my knees myself as I am disabled. However, at the top of the staircase is said to be a drop of our Lord’s Blood, covered by a glass disc. I knelt down to kiss it and when I got up I felt really dizzy. I was alone. It was a stupid thing to do but I am sure that my Guardian Angel prevented me from falling. I felt an arm around me, not actually touching me but most definately there.

Somebody already used my favorite (the supercomputer thing) but there are so many to choose from! I guess one of the craziest(that for some reason people believe) is that Pope Pius XII was a Nazi sympathizer! Quite the opposite is true.

Hi, Nan S,

I guess I am just living a sheltered life… 😃 I had never heard of Tony Alamo … so, I looked him up. In case there are any other folks who don’t know about this character, here is a link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Alamo

With 174 years to go on his federal sentece for child sexual abuse … I was thinking that the world is a much safer place with this monster behind bars.

God bless
Tony Alamo gets my vote. He may be in prison, but his supporters are still stuffing his hateful, blasphemy-spewing tracts on windshields around where I work.

Did you know the Catholic Church is now in cahoots with Oprah to take down Tony Alamo? As if we have nothing better to do, I guess… From his website:

Funny thing is, his supporters are more than ready to plaster windshields with his hate (printed on expensive slick paper), but don’t have the courage to defend it. I caught one raggedy-looking fellow stuffing tracts on cars, walked in his direction, and he quickly reversed course to stuff windshields 50 yards away. Then he saw a security truck rolling his direction, took off running like a scared rabbit, and didn’t stop until he was out of sight down the street.

As for Jack Chick tracts, I do make very good use of them. I usually find them in public restrooms, and those tracts are just wonderful to have around when there’s no toilet paper in the stall. Grab them all up and keep a few in your purse for spares…

Your not alone being sheltered. I never heard of him either. Hope he has no option for parole.

I nearly forgot one of the funniest exchanges I had with an anti-Catholic. She claimed to be a life-long Catholic who eventually ā€œsaw the lightā€ and left the Church. She posted often on an apologetics forum, which, alas, is no longer with us.

In one conversation I mentioned the four marks of the Church - One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. Her reply? ā€œI’ve seen a lot of Catholic churches and never seen them words on the buildings.ā€

Once I stopped laughing, I explained the four marks of the Church to her.

This story is one I trot out every year when our RCIA class covers the four marks. 😃

Not specifically anti-Catholic, but I just came across a guy who claimed, and I’m paraphrasing, ā€œpope Constantine incorporated the sign of the cross into Christianity. It’s really just the Tammuz sign of the cross in disguiseā€

I think it has to be the one where the Roman Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon drunk on the blood of the saints. Where’s the proof? Seven hills in Rome or some rubbish. I don’t really care for conspiracy theories, most are bogus and people waste too much time figuring out how it all fits together to bring the world down. I think Roman Catholic’s waste time concerning themselves with other people’s ā€œanti-Catholicā€ ideas. Get over it, the world is full of crazy people both Catholic and protestant. Some protestants think other protestants are of the devil too. As a raised Presbyterian many Catholics probably consider me an anti-Christ. Some You Tubers have taken the heat off their Catholic anti-Christs for a while while they turn the spotlight on ā€œCalvin worshippersā€. The world has gone completely and utterly mad. It must be all the steroids and chemicals they’re putting in our food!!!

Hello to Everyone,

I am from the southern part of Virginia. You can imagine what I come up against with Anti-Catholic ideas. I have copied and pasted a post that I wrote the other day in the group ā€œProud to be Catholicā€ about a book that is circulating as bulk mail in our area. One of the other members of the group said the book is written by an author that was one of the founders of the Seventh Day Adventists and has been dead for quite sometime. Here is my post. Please excuse the length.

    To All Please read!!!
Please BEWARE of a book that is circulating as bulk mail. It is very anti-Catholic. It is called The Great Controversy-The Storm is Coming. Please refer to this website, to see what the Book looks like. greatcontroversyproject.com/ah4d39azk3.html. It has a chapter regarding the Catholic Church called "Liberty of Conscience Threatened (Aims of Papacy) quote from the book. "Papists place crosses upon their churches, upon their altars, and upon their garments. Everywhere is seen the insignia of the corss. Everwhere it is outward honored and exalted. But the teachings of Christ are buried beneath a masses of senseless traditions, false intepretations, and rigorous exactions. (This was pg. 307)
I WROTE A REPLY on their web page — here it is sorry for the length of this post, but it is important. Here is my reply–

I am a returning (Cradle) Roman Catholic. I left the Church when I turned 18, and returned at 46 last summer. Thank God! I was miserable attending Protestant churches, because the Protestants offered fragmented doctrine. I never had any CONSISTENT joy at what I felt were preacher centered/inconsistent sermons and empty altar churches.(No Blessed Sacrament, no Holy Eucharist). There were No teachings on how to offer suffering as a prayer for sinners and lost souls. There are 38,000 sects under Protestantism. How do you all decide who has got it right? I returned to my Lord Jesus Christ in The Roman Catholic Church where the Holy Eucharist is celebrated.— And we do not send out horrid books about Protestants. You are as guilty as the ones that needed reformed in the Catholic Church during Luther’s heresy against the True Church and it’s true doctrine. In His zeal he made deadly errors. You are making horrific errors as well against THE CHURCH OF OUR LORD JESUS, THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.— We embrace Protestants as our Brothers and Sisters in Christ! YOU ARE STIRRING UP BIGOTRY AND HATRED AGAINST CHRISTIANS that are Catholics–But thank you for allowing us to suffer for Christ, that is an honor! GOD HELP YOUR SOULS. I will offer the suffering you have inflicted on me And all Roman Catholics for your souls.
Never send anything to me again. I will always defend and protect the Holy Mother Church, The Roman Catholic Church! (a little condensed, but most all of my view point is here.*

**John MacArthur’s **charge that the Vatical has the largest library of pornography in the world…

THAT guy is a real piece of work . . .
Oh my goodness! What an amazing dillusional indiviuidal he is! He is what makes living in the south as a devout Roman Catholic a bit tougher. :doh2:

Simply put, it is unfounded, unsupported bias garbage that could only misguide those who know nothing of Catholicism or true and full Christianity. only those who may belong to an anti-Catholic reformation based denomination would accept such a book or author and it would be accepted based on their own learning’s taught to them by those who are anti-Catholic and can not scripturally support the founding or establishment of any non-Catholic Christian faith formed out of the so called ā€œreformation.ā€

One point as an example; The belief in Sola Scriptura (believing in scripture only in an attempt to claim the CC invalid) in itself defeats the validity and existence not only of the formation of any other ā€œChristian faith separate from the Catholic Church (proven to have the lineage of Christ’s teachings), but also denies the validity of the ā€œreformationā€ itself. Again, scripture contains no justification or support for the reformation or the establishment of any Christian faith by any human being beyond that which Christ founded. In fact, scripture boldly warns of such heresies and of those who would distort His Word and misguide others to follow them. Any one can write books, but such are these authors who can not stand with credibility to defend their own misguided public condemnations or their Protestant based faiths. The very first sign of a faith teaching distorted views is its judgment against the Catholic Church when the contents of its own Bible were taken from the Catholic Church to begin with. Let them justify themselves against these points scripturally and we will see what all such books are worth. Doesn’t it seem odd that the majority of the biblical interpretations of non-Catholic faiths coincide with the 2000 years of Catholic interpretations and teachings but only those things that some ā€œfounderā€ disagreed with based on his own personal opinions generated from his or her own weakness of faith and belief were adapted and altered to suit such personal opinions? Over 30,000 of them and counting…

Hey guys, we’re almost at the halfway point of this thread.
Anyone tally up a top ten? 😃

It would have been a benefit for the author to read more about the subject herself. According to numerous archeological discoveries, crosses have been unearthed throughout various areas both in and outside the holy land in the dwellings and in later dates over some of the doorway entries of Christian dwellings not to mention elsewhere. This discovered from the earliest times far earlier than the recognized ā€œCatholicā€ Church. It was a representation of being Christian from early on.

And if the Book says anything about praying to Mary for her intercession with her Son, they may want to look into the Jewish practice of calling on the intercession with God of a person’s deceased mother on behalf of a seriously ill person. If praying to any person’s mother for intercession on behalf of their son or daughter is valid, how could calling on the Mother of Jesus to intercede WITH HER SON be less valid. By the way, carvings honoring Mary were also unearthed in dwellings through archeological discoveries… also not a later invention of the Catholic Church, but a much earlier Christian form of honor to the Blessed Mother.

There is an excellent book called ā€œthe Crucified Rabbiā€ that shows the many connections between Old Testament Judaism and New Testament Christianity.

The best come when we read Chick tracts. He often describes Catholic as ā€œunsaved peopleā€, then he’ll show you some kind of a Baptist hero who come in and instantly act all Jesus-like to convert the ā€œpaganā€.

I liked the one about the Catholic Church having the largest pornography library. 😃

The other good one was the Jesuits wrote ā€˜Mein Kamph.’

Yes, the RC Church being the whore of Babylon really is old hat. šŸ˜›

Apart from fundamentalists, I don’t think anyone else cares either. As for conspiracy theories, they come and go. In a few years time, someone else will a lot of money out of another ā€˜credible’ conspiracy theory.

I do think there is a little light relief in entertaining ourselves here and it helps us get over it all. I couldn’t really care what anyone says about the Catholic Church now.

Heard it all before!

It seem like the Jesuits are the worst people on the planet, every single bad thing is linked directly to them.

Just checking in to see if everyone has their basement dug and purchased their firearms.
Digging a basement is tough in this area. But firearms - heck, my (non-Catholic) daddy taught be how to shoot before I was 10. I’m ready. šŸ˜‰

The funny thing is Chick and their ilk seem to view Jesuits as some kind of ā€œSuper-Catholic,ā€ yet seem to be saddled with the accusation of being liberal by many Catholics. Not too much of a contradiction. šŸ˜‰
