I watch a lot of Turner Classic Network of old movies, and I have to sigh wistfully when I see those long gone days. Back then, Hollywood was a friend of The Catholic Church, made dozens of movies about brave Catholic people, and was proud of its Catholic actors. Not so today! No sir! I think there may be something to the year 1960 and Fatima–but it seems that the world has turned on the Church and Hollywood has been in the Vanguard along with the ‘playboy’ philosophy. Saturday night TV shows depict Christ in horrible ways that make fun of him and his followers, and the mother of them all was a certain movie that proposed the idea that The Church had a secret society that was out to hide the “real” story of Jesus. And this scary monk who wore a cilice was trying to stop these two “brave” reporters from showing the “truth”. In it the controversial cilice was hugely exagerated and it made The Church look like something out of science fiction horror stories. All I know is, too bad that Hollywood has fallen from any grace that it had, and all I can say is, Shame on you Opie!

How true and the media showed Catholic shows like Fulton Sheen, now many are no longer in the middle but choose sides.

My brothers and sisters, its all part of the big picture but for all those Catholics who are such by name only and have lost themselves from the time of the sexual revolution on (last 50 years, I was one myself) I have mounted a plate on the front of my car that says nothing more than “live it!” with a picture of a priest’s joined praying hands. I also went on Zazzle.com and had a couple ‘T’ shirts made for example, one with Christ’s image along with the words “Salvation” above Him and “Live it or loose it” below His image. On the back is Matthew CH25; v44-45…

Now you may compare me to the homesless guy with the cardboard sign on a street corner but hey, “Live it” seems the best advice to offer. If it brings someone to think than it has serve well. Of course I am a reconverted Catholic living in non-Catholic West Virginia and sure I may get hung (doubtful) but I say bring it, I’ll die for His cause. We can talk about how it was and I miss those times also but now as far as I am concerned it is time to express once again our Faith. Even if it is as simple as advertising “live it”.

Anybody notice that they will often say that the pope is gonna be the false teacher and gonna be the beast? Despite the growth of Protestant televangelism and preachers being treated like super stars.

Strangely enough, these people shun the “mega-church” celebrities as well. Then again, they’re also blind to the fact that they have their own cult following.

It would have been a benefit for the author to read more about the subject herself. According to numerous archeological discoveries, crosses have been unearthed throughout various areas both in and outside the holy land in the dwellings and in later dates over some of the doorway entries of Christian dwellings not to mention elsewhere. This discovered from the earliest times far earlier than the recognized “Catholic” Church. It was a representation of being Christian from early on.

And if the Book says anything about praying to Mary for her intercession with her Son, they may want to look into the Jewish practice of calling on the intercession with God of a person’s deceased mother on behalf of a seriously ill person. If praying to any person’s mother for intercession on behalf of their son or daughter is valid, how could calling on the Mother of Jesus to intercede WITH HER SON be less valid. By the way, carvings honoring Mary were also unearthed in dwellings through archeological discoveries… also not a later invention of the Catholic Church, but a much earlier Christian form of honor to the Blessed Mother.

There is an excellent book called “the Crucified Rabbi” that shows the many connections between Old Testament Judaism and New Testament Christianity.
Thank you Tom, I will try to look into that book. And thanks for your kindness. The info you have given is very helpful!

Personally, I can’t recall hearing anything crazier than the Vatican Super computer. That was an awesome post. What gets me about these whoppers (murdering Galileo, Joan the Pope, adding books to the Bible, etc.) is they’re all events that NEVER took place, yet sooooo many people believe whole-heartedly in them. If anyone is interested, you can do a search on the Catholic Answers Live show calendar for “Catholic Urban Legends”. It’s an interesting show.

I think I will have to include a chapter in my book on the really crazy anti-Catholics that are out there.

His elevator does not go all the way to the top floor. Does he even have an elevator that works? Maybe it is just an empty shaft.😃
