Perhaps the craziest of all is, “The Church is full of hypocrites!”

Because it isn’t. We can always scoot together and make room for one more.😃

The Church isn’t a hotel for saints, it’s a hospital for sinners. Who among us here on Earth who say we believe and practice what our Faith teaches are actually perfect 100% of the time?
👍 This is brilliant - it’s going into my “Internet Wisdom” collection. 🙂

I would have to say that my favorite is that Constantine forced the bishops accept the Trinity Doctrine at Nicea I heard that from my JW mother in law, oh and also that we practice cannibalism, I heard that from a Calvary neighbor.
I have heard the same from my JW friend, Always cracks me up when I think about it!
👍

When I was attending a non-denominational “bible” study group (I was the only Catholic), the Baptist “teacher” told quite a whopper! He said that Catholics worship an ancient “fish god” and proof of this was the Pope’s “hat” that he wore because it looked like the head of fish with its mouth open. I was incredulous!

Can you believe it!! I thought he was joking, but he wasn’t!

Obviously, it means that :rolleyes:George Washington was actually:thumbsup: Caligula’s great-great-grandson.😃
(:shrug:Some people can find a conspiracy theory in a;) peanut butter and jelly sandwich).
Insert ominous music here…dun-dun-DUN! :;):

Well, you really can’t trust a peanut butter and jelly sandwich: so many are allergic to peanuts now,🤷

I came across a guy on a forum recently who believed that the Church had the largest military in the world. My interest was piqued, and so I asked him where he got this idea from. He told me to look around at the Catholic groups - the KNIGHTS of Columbus and the church MILITANT were, to him, because of their names, obviously some of the military orders the Church is going to use to take over the world some day. He even showed me some of the pictures of KofC members in full regalia, swords out, to “prove” it. Of course, every guy in that picture had to be pushing 70.

I quickly explained that even he was a church militant and I haven’t seen him since.

Actually, yes I can believe. Well I mean, I USED to believe it so I can understand why people still think that nonsense!

I’ve heard it a lot before in my past life as a Baptist. On top of a bunch of satanic symbols on the Pope’s robes, staff and hat. sigh

So so so sad.

I’m so so so so so ashamed 😊

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I just wanted to say that I am still laughing from some of the craziest things I have heard here! It is so hard to think that people really believe that stuff, but sadly they do, but when you think of it, it’s pretty outrageously funny. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

And it’s very sad as the same time.
It seems that people are willing to believe the most ridiculous things imaginable since it gives them a reason to dislike the Church. When one tries to dispel their misconceptions, any ‘legitimate’ grounds for their hate are lost - and it’s something that many do not want to happen. After all, if you’re going to hate Catholics, it’s better to have something in your arsenal than just hating them for no good reason right? It seems, sadly, that anything will do, even the most bizzare things imaginable. 🤷

I just heard a new one -

We don’t allow women to become priests because a woman would be able to see through all of our false doctrines. This from a female SDA.

This one is not explicitly an anti-Catholic whopper, but implicitly it is.

On the way back from a Tim Hawkins concert, I and my girlfriend’s mom were having a conversation - about what needs to happen for Christianity to be taken seriously - and I mentioned, you can thank Martin Luther for the 33,000+ denominations in the world, and she, in all seriousness, said, “Yes we can!” O.o

Well we already know women are smarter than men…

…but does that mean women become smarter still on ordination?

They can’t figure out the church is wrong without being ordained?

On this board someone quoted an old accusation that the Catholic Church was just a money-making organisation.

I asked who got all this money - the Pope? If so, I must have missed all the photos of him on his yacht, his private carribbean island, the parties in Vegas etc.

He paid the money to Leonardo for all the paintings ; ))

I was defending the papacy against an episcopalian this week and he said that the papacy was akin to Sun Yong Moon and LDS prophets. huh? LOL 😛

Leonardo never sold any paintings to the Vatican that I know of, so that would have been quite a feat.

If you were thinking of Michelangelo, he was in the employ of the Vatican, but died before he was ever paid.
