Thanks any help would be appreciated.
As far as I know FSSP is in full union with Rome. Thanks any help would be appreciated.
However I read on their website that their priests do not take any vows. How can they be priests without Holy Orders. How can anything they do be valid then.As far as I know FSSP is in full union with Rome.
The “vows” they are referring to…and correct me here if I am wrong… are the vows that religious order priests make - “Poverty, Chastity and Obedience”.However I read on their website that their priests do not take any vows. So they do have valid Holy Orders and Sacraments conferred by them are valid. The “vows” they are referring to…and correct me here if I am wrong… are the vows that religious order priests make - “Poverty, Chastity and Obedience”.
The FSSP is not a religious order so they do not make those vows. They do however promise obedience and celibacy…not the same as taking vows.
It is similar to that of diocesean/secular priests - they do not take vows either. The FSSP states that on their website so as not to be confused with religious order priests - who take those vows.

Absolutely. So they do have valid Holy Orders and Sacraments conferred by them are valid.
Oh, I’m going to go to a parish by them. It looks like it’s in a house is that normal.Absolutely.
Why did you stop?House is not that uncommon, so I hear. I attended the FSSP Mass in Denver that was held in an old grade school.
I believe that Pope John Paul II agreed with them as well.I’ve only been to one FSSP (St. Catherine’s, On) parish and it was a converted house - perfectly fine. I assume that the diocese couldn’t spare any parishes nor did the FSSP have funding to create a new parish.
Anyway, the FSSP is 100% valid. They were in fact created by former SSPX priests who did not approve of the events surrounding the illicit ordination of new bishops. Thus they broke away from the SSPX so as to not cast any doubt on their loyalty to Rome.
I have never heard of them.It should be noted that the traditional services of the Institute of Christ the King are ALSO 100% valid and fulfill a niche similar to that of the FSSP.
Yes, I have been to the Queen of Angels Oratory in St. Catherines. The priests there used to celebrate Mass in London once a month (since been upgraded to a weekly), where I would serve before I moved to Ottawa last fall. The hospital chapel we were given for use was larger and more ornate then their own chapel in St. Catherines!I’ve only been to one FSSP (St. Catherine’s, On) parish and it was a converted house - perfectly fine. The Institute has some very beautiful churches. They favor the baroque style, and their architecture shows it. Their oratory in La Crosse, for example, was remodeled in German baroque style. The Shrine of Christ the King in Chicago is currently under construction and when finished will reflect the styles found in renaissance and baroque Roman and Venetian basilicas. It should be noted that the traditional services of the Institute of Christ the King are ALSO 100% valid and fulfill a niche similar to that of the FSSP.
The Institute of Chris the King Sovereign Priest is not as old as the FSSP, but they have spread around the world since their founding. The seminary is in a medieval palace outside of Gricigliano, Italy, near Florence.I have never heard of them.
How can I find out if they have any parishes in my Archdiocese? The Institute of Chris the King Sovereign Priest is not as old as the FSSP, but they have spread around the world since their founding. The seminary is in a medieval palace outside of Gricigliano, Italy, near Florence.
The Prior General, Msgr. Wach, was ordained by John Paul II and the Vicar General, Msgr. Schmitz was ordained by then-Cardinal Ratzinger. So you know their Holy Orders are valid![]()
Here are their locations in North America. How can I find out if they have any parishes in my Archdiocese?
It looks like they only have 10 and there is a FSSP parish only 15 minutes away from my house. I guess it really doesn’t matter because both are in full Communion with Rome. Here are their locations in North America.
