It is very common for Priests, Bishops and Popes to not raise their hand high enough when making the second part of the sign of the cross. They are not intending to make an inverted cross. Watch a video of a Pope going through a crowd of people blessing them and you will see the same things.
This is, of course, absurd…
- What do you mean by the term “Tridentine Priest”? The word Tridentine is used to show association with the Council of Trent or its decrees. I assume you meant it as “Traditional Priest.”
- I would also like you to post a film of the great number of priests who offer the Novus Ordo as they make the Sign of the Cross. I daresay most of them would be making this “Satanic gesture” as they move their hand from their foreheads to their chest, and then to the shoulders. Such a movement would certainly be in the form of an upside-down cross, unless the priest’s shoulders are somehow several feet above his chest. I’m sure that most priests really haven’t given this point much thought. It is completely unfair and ridiculous to accuse ANY priest (Traditional or not) of Satanic associations because of this.
- I would also like to point out that most of these were not in the form of an upside-down cross. They were much nearer to the familiar + sign, which is an old symbol in the Church. It is used in Missals to show where the Sign of the Cross is to be made during the Mass. It may also interest the poster of this video to note that the + symbol is on corporals used in the liturgy today.
