What's the difference?

I was looking for a parish in my area that offers the TLM. One parish offers the TLM, but one closer to me offers a Latin Mass. Is there a difference?

(If you want to see what I’m talking about, go to the Diocese of Arlington VA website, do a search for St. Lawrence and then Queen of Apostles).

In my experience, a Latin Mass is the ordinary form of the Mass said in Latin. Most parishes seem to be pretty specific about saying “TLM” or “Extraordinary Form” if that is what they’re offering.

On the other hand, I didn’t write up the schedule, so I can’t be 100% sure. I would suggest that you call the parish office and ask.

Well here is the Queen of Apostles cite for the bulletin.

This seems to be quite Latin to me

The St. Lawrence Church doesn’t have much of a cite.
 
Do you watch EWTN? They have a traditional Latin Mass. I discern all other masses I attend by their standards.
 
It is my experience that the “Traditional Latin Mass” is the same as the “Latin Mass”. While not technically correct (since the Novus Ordo is properly offered in Latin), a Latin Novus Ordo is as rare as hen’s teeth. I’d just call the parish office and ask if the Mass is “Tridentine”. I bet it is.

A definate difference there is. The Novus Ordo done in Latin is often called a “Solemn Latin” Mass in the Ordinary Form.

Although I much prefer the ExtraOrdinary Form, the above mentioned Ordinary Form can be very reverent. But the prayers are different and the focus is different.

I would urge you to attend both forms and make up your own mind. Thats what I did and why I prefer the ExtraOrdinary Form.
