What's the explanation for this discrepancy, again?

Mathew gathers 26 forefathers for Jesus in Matt 1, Luke gathers 41 forefathers for Jesus in Luke 3, and between Mathew and Luke, the ONLY common name between David and JESUS is JOSEPH the Carpenter.

What gives?
