I was always taught that all sin could be absolved through confession. But recently on these forums I came across a thread discussing the ‘unforgivable sin’, named by Jesus as ‘blasphemy against the Holy Spirit’.

I’m terrified. When I was thirteen, I renounced Catholicism for awhile to practice Wicca. This lasted a very short time, but I didn’t return to the Church until I was seventeen, when I of course made a full confession. But if this sin is unforgivable, am I going straight to hell anyway? Do I no longer exist in the eyes of God? Please respond quickly; I’m very, very anxious.

Hi,

You have not committed the sin against the Holy Spirit since you obviously want the Lord to forgive you. To sin against the Holy Spirit is to refuse to allow the Lord to help you. So you are ok.
