What's the real purpose of ''confession''?

It’s inaccurate to claim we are selfish here. We are not selfish. We want for everybody to avail themselves of reconciliation and communion – just in the proper order: baptism, confirmation, confession, and communion. Everybody had to do it in that order, including every person here who is Catholic.

Actually, If communion takes place soon after baptism than confession comes after communion as there are no longer any sins to confess - they were all forgiven in the baptism. Those are the three sacraments of initiation in the Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Communion.
