Can people go to confession during mass or something? Is that bad to be missing mass?
Yes they can. They’re not missing Mass. They just happen to be standing in line, but still following the Mass. Confessions typically end at the Sanctus, so nobody misses the Consecration. Think about it: What better time to go to Confession then right before Communion? Can people go to confession during mass or something? Is that bad to be missing mass?
In my church (NO) they hear confessions right upto the Lamb of God. They may resume it if there was a long enough line. I believe the late John Paul II, approved of this practise instead of having no confessions at all.Can people go to confession during mass or something? Is that bad to be missing mass?
In one of my local parishes this is also the practice - especially on Sundays where there are 11 Masses, each following more or less immediately on from the last.In my church (NO) they hear confessions right upto the Lamb of God. It isn’t really, and not totally ideal, nor do I do it unless severely time restricted. Nor is it what I imagine most people would do normally.Whoa here!! There must be something wrong with me, and my parish.
We have confessions up to the start of Mass, then they’re done (even when we have a visiting priest saying Mass, and our own single priest doing confessions.)
Personally, I can’t imagine leaving any part of the Mass for any reason. I try hard to prepare for each Mass beforehand, and to participate to the best of my ability. I can’t even imagine how I would concentrate on Mass while thinking about confession at the same time.
Perhaps if that’s the only time that they do confession (which in itself seems a bit strange), then I would have no choice.
I had no idea that confessions during Mass was so widespread![]()
