What's up with this?

Last week we had a substitute priest at our church. During his Homily he said that we were all up in Heaven with God and agreed to come down and be who we are. I thought that was a New Age teaching.

This is an old heresy, I forget exactly what it’s called though. You’re right the New Age does teach something like this. The Church dealt with this teaching at several councils and condemned it. We didn’t exist as souls before our bodies. God directly creates our souls from nothing when our bodies are created.
