What's with John Paul and the Inverted Cross?

It makes me want to cry when I see our ailing Pope being called the anti-christ. This little, frail man…the antichrist??? Come on!

It also makes me shudder to consider what God thinks of people calling his successor to The Apostle, Peter, the antichrist–especially when they do it in HIS name.

Hmmm…For some reason I thought it was a Native American sign which meant “peace” or something along those lines. I think i’ll look into it. But I get your overall point.
Speaking of “peace” symbols, I believe that the peace symbol that was popular in the '60s is an anti-Christian symbol. Supposedly it was known as Nero’s cross, because according to legend, the Emperor Nero took a crucifix, inverted and broke the arms down to symbolize his rejection of Christianity. If you’ve ever seen a peace symbol, it does certainly look like an inverted cross with the arms bent down. Anyone know anything about the history of this symbol?

Not to be contradictory, the inverted cross is indeed used in certain black rituals and is a sign of desecration (when taken IN THE CONTEXT OF A DESECRATION.
That’s an inverted CRUCIFIX, a symbol of the negation of Christ’s redemptive power (Christ falling rather than rising). Unsurprisingly, people motivated to worship Satan aren’t all that swift, so you find some satanists using an inverted cross, which is actually a sign of extreme piety (St. Peter’s willingness to abase himself in service of Christ), even though the satanists obviously intend the opposite. Those who produce these foolish anti-Catholic websites aren’t interested in truth or understanding, so they simply repeat the same error.

Edit – Story of the peace sign, which isn’t anti-religious either: peaceday.org/pcsign.htm

 I can see myself being taken in by that stuff. I’m glad I didn’e see it before I converted (was brainwashed!) into becoming a Catholic 😃

For anti-Catholics I pray Jesus’ prayer: “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

I also pray that their hearts be soften toward the truth.

In Christ,
Nancy 🙂

It really is sad that so many people will allege stuff like is on those anti-Catholic sites. Most wouldn’t have the honest courage to read the Catechism, which would clearly answer most of their questions.

I have some Catholic friends in prison, & you wouldn’t believe the hassles they catch. Faith Based Programs, good as they are are almost all funded & run by fundamentalist Protestant groups. Our poor guys are told that they are not Christians & targeted for evangelism like crazy. If you know of anyone in prison, please consider Hebrews 13:3, & write them so they don’t think no one cares. Most prisons have very limited Catholic services, (maybe twice a month, if lucky), and very little catholic literature. There are Catholic prison apostolates, but the guys rarely hear of them.Messed up as these guys are they need our prayers & support so that they can get out & become the saints they were supposed to be all along & that would’ve kept them out of prison to begin with. Just remember that St. Dismas was also a convicted felon…
