The problem with Catholics is the same problem with Orthodox…and Lutherans…and Methodists…and Baptists…and…

The problem is we are all human beings living in a fallen world. Some of us make mistakes on occasion but learn from them. Some of us embrace those mistakes and allow them to change our lifestyle. Some of us allow the faults of others to affect us, either for good or bad.

The only way the problem will be solved is when Christ returns. Until then, friendly education of our brothers and sisters along with a Kyrie eleison or two is all we can do.

Off hand I say some of the music is not that great,but thats just me, I like the preaching

Along the music, I really miss the days of the old fashioned pipe organ, hymns that have traditional tones to them which are familiar enough to sing along to. This modern stuff they are doing these days, I just cannot get into, and I’m one of the few that can read music, but the choir itself tends to take too much liberty with their translations and versions, so cannot even use that to follow along with.

I also think that we seriously need to place more effort into sticking around after mass to socialize (outside of the church “in the lobby”), it’s too often the place clears out within minutes after the end of mass. Also, we need to place more reverence before and after mass, especially keeping the chit chat to a minimum, lowered tone of voice when it’s obvious people are trying to pray.

I agree, the reverence often is lacking. I mean, if people really made an effort to keep the mass at the forefront of their minds, we wouldn’t have such awful music, loud chatty people in church, and a loss of reverence.

This is only some churches, not all. (Disclaimer: I don’t want to sound like a discontent angry traditional Catholic, a lot of people hear somebody promoting the Latin mass and get turned off) I went to my very first Latin mass a few hours ago and people there seemed to get it. The mass was so reverent it made me cry! I would seriously recommend the more traditional mass to anybody who feels unhappy/uncomfortable at a less traditional Novus Ordo (my home parish). The music, the reverence, it’s all there. And not to mention you’ll finally understand the quote “The Latin mass is the closest thing to heaven on earth.” This was definitely proven to me today!!

Another thing wrong with some Catholics is a holier-than-thou attitude. You get this in all walks of life, but still. Especially some tradional Catholics get tied up in this when they attend a N.O. mass. We need to keep in mind that they’re essentially different rites, and since so many years have gone by since 1969 most N.O’ers are worshipping God the only way available(me, at lest for now), or the only way they know how.

I also think a lot of us lose our loyalty to the Church, or get tied up dangerous ideas that it’s ok to sin sometimes since God will forgive us anyway, or that we rely on our last moment to make a perfect contrition to override our sins at the moment. The lack of trust leads people to make their own fallible conclusions that abortion is sometimes ok, etc.

I’m glad my parish still has the old fashioned pipe organ and familiar hymns. As for sticking around longer i agree. Luckily we have a Rosary prayer group for before and after Mass

I think we need to pray for our leadership and have a national renewal…there were alot of errors that came to American and Canadian Catholics in the midst of the great revolution of the 60’s and the age of technology and mass communications…and this has impacted Islam…and the differences of understanding with non -Catholic Christians…

We live in a very difficult place…albeit there are other regions of the world where Christianity appears to being destroyed.

I wish the protestants would partake with us so we could be one at the banquet table…how far down do we go before we can be one? The protestants have many good charisms needed for our Christianity to be a greater witness…for faith and for country.

Of course as time goes by and the world becomes even worse, there may be no one to vote for that does not support abortion.

This, in my opinion is the worst sin of Catholics - the divisiveness that makes the self-righteous Catholics look down their noses at the Catholics “Who aren’t as good as me.”

I could say many, many nasty things about such people, but your Christ has already done it. Why don’t you pay attention to him?

Exactly why I bristle at the “good Catholics” who use the word Creasters. They need to name those who aren’t there every week, which is nothing but the desire to compare themselves (favorably in their minds) to those they look down on. Of course they say prayers for them.

I just have a question,How do you know how Cathloic vote,do they tell you after the vote,after the poll , just went do thet let you know,I habe been voting for 25 years and never had a person how I voted so Im just asking not looking for a fight
