What's wrong with Catholics?

I know what you are saying and I agree that I don’t know the state of their souls. I was trying to carefully word my first post so it didn’t come off as being “holier than thou” or self- righteous, I guess I failed at that. But I just can’t help but notice this, especially in my own family.
Paul mentioned this element before, he even went so far as to show these guys who they are up against if they wanted to go into a boasting contest. I can do the same on my end, believe me, the things I do at mass and in between it during the week, I do for the most part totally alone, and it’s about being devotional, when in comparison, noticing I’m alone with it, do I make a comparison to the rest of the parish that does not follow suite?

We must always keep the context in mind, are we growing spiritually, or back sliding, there is no middle ground here. One that has came from a troubled past and having overcome, may in your opinion not seem all that important, what they understand and experience, to you may seem rudimentary, yet to them, it’s a great stride forward in their lives, the likes of which many will never experience, comparatively, and one that has a rather trouble free past, knowing in great detail of many things taught by the church and scripture, that spends a significant amount of time and resources to help with charities, typically is looked upon with much higher regard then the former example.

This is why it’s dangerous to assume the people that attend mass are being luke warm, you just don’t know where their context is from. I do take into account though, for some reason the priests acknowledge my dedication, I don’t know how, but I can read it on their faces, and there is almost an unspoken dialog that goes on during mass, especially when we have a visiting priest. In my case, it’s because there are some outward signs that I show, such as I prefer to be as close to the sacrament as possible, seating wise, I choose to pray before and after mass, and after communion, but most of all, I am very attentive, not being distracted by anything else. Yet, understand, most people prefer to not stand out, so will try to fit in with the rest of the parish, even if it means remaining quiet and to themselves, just not to make waves. At present, I do these things, not to show off, I do them because I’m called to do so, and at first it was kind of awkward, now it’s natural, and still, I stand alone with much of it, but then again, I’ve always kind of stood out from the crowd regardless.

Saint Teresa quote

“Anyone who truly loves God travels securely. "

“Our souls may lose their peace and even disturb other people’s, if we are always criticizing trivial actions - which often are not real defects at all, but we construe them wrongly through our ignorance of their motives.”

“Much more is accomplished by a single word of the Our Father said, now and then, from our heart, than by the whole prayer repeated many times in haste and without attention.”

“For prayer is nothing else than being on terms of friendship with God.”

As Catholics I feel we need more time going within, to be quiet, to listen so God can speak.

One hears a great many things here on the Forum…

What do you think is wrong with Catholics?

What would it take to fix “the problem?”
*"You cannot be too gentle, too kind. Shun even to appear harsh in your treatment of each other. Joy, radiant joy, streams from the face of him who gives and kindles joy in the face of him who receives.

All condemnation is from the devil. Never condemn each other. We condemn others only because we shun knowing ourselves. When we gaze at our own failings, we see such a swamp that nothing in another can equal it. That is why we turn away, and make much of the faults of others.

Instead of condemning others, strive to reach inner peace. Keep silent, refrain from judgement. This will raise you above the deadly arrows of slander, insult, and outrage and will shield your glowing hearts against all evil"

Great points. Thanks for the insight.

Can you please tell us how you know how people vote Cathloic or Protestants, does a little bird tell you
Yes. Yes, he did.

If we are to believe polling results and statistics, a majority of Catholics voted for a pro-abortion candidate this time round.

Blatantly pro-abortion politicians continue to be elected in districts with large Catholic populations.
