Whats wrong with Sola Scriptura.

When I first heard of this belief I said, hey this makes sense. So I looked into it, and here was a shocker. All of the Catholic beliefs are in the Bible! And I was even reading a Protestant Bible. The thing is Protestants believe in Sola Scriptura. But they don’t practice this. If anyone thinks they can argue, try, it’s not true. :irish1:

Of course not. And Luther did not abandon all traditions. He just said that traditions cannot contradict scripture. I do not doubt that every good Catholic believes that all Catholic doctrine can be found in scripture. So do Lutherans. And in most areas, we are both right because our beliefs are the same. Our differences are few. Let’s rejoice in our agreements, and continue to search for solutions to our differences, as Christ would want us to.

I thank God for the wonderful traditions the Catholic Church has nurtured for almost 2,000 years. We as Lutherans share a great many of them.

But you don’t share ALL of them. Christ started the Catholic church, not Luther. you act as if Luther can be justified by what he did. Luther changed the Bible. Luther is a heretic. Follow Jesus, not Luther.

In actuality it is teaching that came first as Jesus was called a Rabbi meaning teacher, and Jesus did this while following the traditions of the Jewish faith as given by God not men.

Scripture relates to these teachings and how Jesus followed traditions and how it related to the new Covenant that He was bringing. All are important.

It should not sadden you but trouble you deeply about the claims your church makes about this. Not only is it not in scripture but there is no real historical evidence for it.
