Oh, ok~~I was talking to a friend who lives on the East Coast and she had no idea what a Culver’s was. :o
Me either and I live in the Southwest. My guess is they are more local than ya think :p. I checked out the web-site of where they were and yup, none of the places I tend to travel, not only that but I checked out their “allergen” grid, they are a Celiacs nightmare of a restaurant! At least at McD’s I can get a bunless hamburger and be safe!

Okay, my default restaurant is a local place too “Viet Rice”, nice prices and I don’t have to do an substitute this and none of that there, they don’t serve anything I am allergic to that in any of the dishes I like!

We have this little mom-n-pop chinese place that is really good… . I live waaaay to close to it and it has a drive through… .

Just got a Golden Corral within the last year or so - not to bad for my lunch out w/the girls cuz we can all have whatever we are in the mood for and they have a “Chocolate Station.” :):):)🙂

Up the Creek is good too - catfish 🙂

When I lived in Florence, SC I used to love going to a little ‘hole in the wall’ Mexican place called La Bamba…Best salsa and Guacamole ever!!!

I suppose I could mention our default favorites when we’re visiting our “home away from home” (El Paso, my original hometown!) since I’m hungry anyway…

First off, you have to realize these are our “go-to” places when my mom doesn’t cook.

Mexican–La Malinche… best steak tacos and menudo!

Italian–unless I want a Bellini badly enough to justify a trip to Olive Garden, we like the Italian Kitchen–hole-in-the-wall that’s been there for 30 years!

BBQ–Rudy’s! (It was a sad day in El Paso when Doc’s Bar-B-Q closed!)

Don’t know what we want–I’ll take a white peach sangria and a salad at Applebee’s almost anytime!

And if you’re in El Paso… and you just gotta have SOMETHING… Chico’s Tacos! An El Paso original… an El Paso “thing”!

DH and I aren’t big on chains, but we do eat at Chipotle like once a week. 😃 I’m addicted. There’s also a local Middle Eastern restaurant that we love and eat at regularly. They have amazing kebabs. And if we are in the mood for a big greasy gyro, there’s King Gyro.

Nobody has mentioned gyro of any stripe yet. Good choice!!!

We love Outback, but it is too pricy to be regular. Applebees is good so is Sonny’s BBQ.

They just opened a Culvers here, and after reading this thread I am going to have to try it.

I’d stomp on a kitten for dinner at Papadeaux.

Speaking of Houston, I’d also stomp said kitten for Lupe Tortilla’s steak fajitas.
makes mental note to keep the cats away from a hungry kage_ar

I don’t blame you. Chipotle is probably the best fast food chain, at least IMO. I love the barbacoa beef with pinto beans and medium salsa. SO good.

Popeyes!

Tip Top Diner, IHOP, Buffalo Wild Wings, Texas Roadhouse,
Pok-e-Joe’s BBQ

IKEA

I have had several people tell me how good Papadeaux is; we’ll have to hunt one down next time we head to Austin to visit dd.

Two places I’ve loved when traveling (New Orleans, Orlando, Denver, Austin) are Mimi’s Cafe and La Madeleine. Mimi’s is this fairytale looking cottage and serves a combination of really good comfort food (roast turkey, pot roast, etc.) and some more sophisticated dishes (lobster ravioli). I vote for the comfort food. La Madeleine is a French cafe with divine main dishes, breads, pastries.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as if L.A. (lower Alabama) will be getting either of them anytime soon.

The Double TT Diner at the corner of Joppa and Belair Roads.
I miss Double TT’s!!!
We got DD the “kid’s” cheese omlet one time. OM! It was HUGE!

And the spinach and feta scramble is to die for!

We have a good pho place here that we like most of the time.

Then there’s a good cheap steakhouse in our little village we go to.

And for somewhere nice we go to a new chain in the upper midwest Granite City.gcfb.net/

We like Arby’s for fast food.

And there are a couple of Chinese buffets here we like.

Chez Shiann is the best eats in town though most nights 😉
👍

Now for me the question is a toughffy. But ya’ gotta keep in mind I am a serious foodie. More so than most I know.

I’d say it’d have to be between 2 Irish pubs not too far from me and 2 traditional bistro’s, both of them downtown.

Wow - the intro on that Culver’s site sounds like something from an MGM production!! I was waiting for Charlton Heston to come out and part the web page for me!! 😃

I’ve never heard of Culver’s before - might have to check them out in the summer, I love a good thick malt with so much malt it crunches. Mmmmmmmmm!!!

Let’s see this depends on what we’re in the mood for!

Mexican aka Tex-Mex: We really love Los Lupus local place that’s cheap but good! The other day I went to eat there and they usually try to have some form of entertainment. A guy was playing 1990s and 2000s U.S. pop songs in Spanish…you’ve never lived until you’ve heard Brittany Spears in Spanish sung by an old guy!! :rotfl: Chipolte or another burrito place Freebirds are also really good.

Italian - We love Sweet Basil a local place that we’ve been going to for years. They even know our names it’s great. They have a small meeting room where we had a small wedding dinner for my sister’s wedding. There is also a pizza place called Alfredo’s. Yum!

Greek - Our favorite place closed! 😦 We need to find a new one!

Steaks - Sadly I live in Texas but there are no good local steak places. 🤷 We usually eat at Saltgrass or Texas Roadhouse.

Southern comfort food - There is a family style place called Babes. The BEST BEST fried chicken anywhere! I don’t get to go there often…but man I always leave stuffed! 😃
