I pulled into the driveway at home just as Lorde’s “Royals” reached the chorus and saw my three dogs at the gate waiting for me.

And I got a sudden visual of them howling along: “I’ll rule, I’ll rule, I’ll rule, I’ll rule…”

Now I can’t get the stupid song out of my head! 😦

Anyone got an earworm they can’t get rid of?

For me it is Tennessee Ernie Ford singing 16 Tons. I have been know to break out singing all the verses at traffic lights. (I know thiss really dates me)

I was just sitting here with Swinging on a Star going through my head. Old song from my youth.

Since the Academy Awards it’s been the Pharrell song ‘Happy’.

I love 16 Tons, and I ain’t nowhere near old!

“They Don’t Know” by Kirsty MacColl - whether it’s the original, the Tracy Ullman version, or even the new version by Lydia Loveless. The song shows up in my dreams, in my nightmares, I sometimes wish I had never heard it. (It’s not even my favorite Kirsty MacColl song.)

As for “Royals,” hearing Bruce Springsteen try to cover it (operative word: try, e.g., changed lyric to “king bee”), I don’t think I ever want to hear it again. Guaranteed cure for that ear worm.

“Take me out to the ball game”

I swear when Ken Burns documentry on baseball came out I was stuck on that for at least two months. I even had trouble sleeping!
My kids were little and delighted in singing it often just to keep it going.

Doesn’t bother me now, but man! I’ve never had an ear worm that was so BAD.

The Boss covered it? But it’s such a female-teen-angsty kinda song, it just doesn’t compute.

I’ve been helping out in UPK. Can’t get rid of “The Wheels on the Bus go round & round”.

Daniel in the Den by Bastille. Great song!! I’m in LOVE with all of their songs. Such meaning and storytelling

It varies day to day…sometimes it’s Jesus Christ, Superstar or I Don’t Know How to Love Him. Then My Favorite Things, Open Up your Heart and Let the Sun Shine In, Dancing in the Streets, Fats-Blueberry Hill, Johnny B Good, Elvis classics…many more. Christmas in season. I call it song of the day or days.

In Australia - MacDonalds new ad for AMORE - a rehash of an old Dean Martin song from the 1950s - That’s Amore.

It is horrible - full of people waving their arms and jumping over tables - too many people, too many waving arms.

Every time I get it out of my head, my man walks past whistling it, and I start off again. And we’re not eating at Macca’s until the ad goes off. So there!

It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears
It’s a world of hopes, a world of fears
There’s so much that we share
And it’s time we’re aware
It’s a small world after all

It’s a small world after all
It’s a small world after all
It’s a small world after all
It’s a small small world

(you’re welcome) 😉

Nope, it does not compute at all. Unfortunately, a ton of people YouTube’d it when he played NZ (where Lorde is from) and so I think it’s safe to say the fiasco will never be officially recorded.
