Yesterday I was so excited to share the feast day of one of my favorite saints with anyone who would listen. Someone in my family caught me off guard by saying he believes him to be in hell. 
I wanted to send him an encyclical. He said he’d be happy to read one. I feel you can really get know JP2 by his writings, but I’ve only read Redemtoris Mater and Mulieris Dignitatem.(Familiaris Consortio next)
I don’t know where this relative sits with Our Lady right now and the other one is more about women.
Can you guys suggest one that would be just as empowering for a man or just any person? This relative is in a lot of despair sometimes and so I’d say one with messages of hope…but that’s probably all of them.
Anyone who has converted or reverted been powerfully influenced by reading an encyclical prior to?
