My favorite part is the Eucharistic Prayer where the priest, in persona christi changes everyday things, mere bread and wine into His Body and Blood!

The consecration and especially the elevation where we have a moment to worship the body and blood of Christ.

I especially appreciate when the priest does not rush this and elevates the host and cup of precious blood fully, hesitating before lowering them again -

SAME HERE !!!

Lately I’ve found that when he raises the host and again when he raises the cup, … i bow my head and avert my eyes.

I think of the question, “If you had Jesus in front of you right now, how would you act?”

for me … humbly.

I like it all (except for the getting out of th eparking lot first, usually we’re one of the last to leave, some two hours after DL is finished). Even though Divien Liturgies can be broken up into parts and pieces, there is a sort of special tension thatthat takes us certain high points, and these are higher than the last-first the Gospel, then the Institution/Epiclesis and finally Communion. It is hard truly to think of this by themselves, without each other.

I like the Great Amen, especially if it is sung with great majesty. It is a very ancient prayer, I have heard that when the Amen was sung by all in the Pantheon in Rome, the building resounded like a bell, and almost shook.

I like to think of the great faith of Roman times, persevering under actual persecution, willing to die for our faith…

My favorite part of the Divine Liturgy is the WHOLE thing as you can not really separate it.

Without everything there is no meaning. The priest can not just recite the Eucharistic prayer to make the Eucharist. The whole Divine Liturgy (or Mass) must take place for this to happen.

I agree that all part’s of the Mass are enjoyable. But it is the Eucharistic Prayer that sets us apart. All other selections in the poll could be accomplished by going somewhere else. But the mass done in Communion with Rome is the penultimate expression of our faith.

I doubt there will be many answers like this one. I like the Offertory. (all right, the collection) Sure we give God our thanksgiving and praise but here’s an opportunity to give concrete evidence of how much of our material worth we’re willing to give back in return for all He has given us. I guess the only problem is that so many Catholics seem to think they’ve only received about $2.00 worth of blessings per week.

The New Mass has basically no Offertory compared to The Traditional Latin Mass. The Divine Liturgy has an Offertory but it is done before the Little Entrance beginning of the Divine Liturgy

I take exception to that thinking.

How can a Church that is preaching to clothe and feed the poor not realize that probably a good portion of their congregation are the poor and that 2.00 from some people may be 10% of the weeks food money. There are other ways we can be good stewards and support the Church when we don’t have the $$$.

So don’t be so judgmental of the 2.00 which may be a greater sacrifice for someone than 20.00 is for someone else.

It is not the lack of $$$ in the collection basket that is causing some Dioceses to go bankrupt but that they have had to pay out $$$$ for lawsuits in the sexual abuse scandals.

I voted other, because I thought it impossible to split the Mass into parts. Then I started writing, and did just that. The most uplifting part is the Gloria (simple version please), the most Rewarding is the Communion, and the most awe (name removed by moderator)iring is the Concecration. If I had my way we would say the Creed and the Gloria at every Mass. At daily Mass they are left out except on Feast Days. But, the Mass would not be the Mass without the Offeratory Prayer. If you have ever been to a Communion Service, you realize this.

Pray for our priests and for vocations to the priesthood.

My favorite part is RECEIVING the Eucharist. I was a protestant for many years. And none of the churches I went to believed that Jesus was present in the bread and wine. IN fact, many of the churches had grape juice instead of wine. I think it’s amazing that when we take communion, it is actually JESUS that we are receiving. What could be better than that?

Me? I like the Penitential Rite. Especially when the Confiteor is said. It gets me in the mood for everything that fallow. My second choice is getting out of the parking lot SAFELY. 😃

I also marked other. For me the parts of the Mass that have thre greatest emotional highs are the Consecration, the Gloria, and the quiet time after Communion. But like many have said, it really cannot be broken up, and we aren;t there for emtional highs!. I too am a convert and also feel so blessed by going forward and receiving Jesus, really truly Jesus, every day. The prayer beforehand (Lord, I am not worhty to receive you…) is so powerful for me.

Two parts that I find very powerful: “This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world; **HAPPY are those who are called to His supper.”**Also, the part of the Eucharistic Prayer that boldly proclaims that we are actually participating in what is going on in Heaven, eternally, and that Mass is Heaven on Earth; “…as we join with the angels in their Unending hymn of praise; Holy, Holy,…”
