Thus my choice…

I miss Steve Jobs. He thwarted every attempt people made to take over his company and destroy it. I still believe that they make quality products; however, I don’t feel that they’re as innovative. Steve pushed them hard!

See, with computers, I’m fully entrenched in the Microsoft/PC world.

It makes things confusing sometimes. 😝
Although I have an Iphone, I have a Microsoft/PC also…no issues going back and forth for me. They are two different tools though I don’t use them for the same things at all.

I think it’s what you are comfortable with. I use Galaxy with the android system. It is synced with my tablet and I am very comfortable with it. I am not comfortable with Apple. For my daughter, it is the opposite. She is Apple all the way.

Yes. That particular one is an Android disguised as a Blackberry-- it has an Android OS. I preferred the Bberry OS, and I still preferred my Curve overall, but it’s nice having a better selection of apps…

Google Drive is a far better alternative in regards to documents /spreadsheets/ presentations
I can’t say I’ve had that experience. I’ve put stuff on Google Drive and then can’t access it.

I also don’t need to deliberately store it anywhere - if I’ve opened it on a device, it’s on the cloud, and when I open, say, Pages on my phone, it just appears with a tap.

I’ve used Google Drive. It works well. But Apple’s products work well on my iPad. I never before used their icloud.com website to work with documents. I just tried it and it seem to work well. One thing I’d say is Apple’s office products have a much better UI. It isn’t cluttered, is very intuitive and looks nice.

For my use I’m very happy with Apple’s office products. And I really like that Apple seems to care about privacy. Google is a giant spy machine.

Rotary or Touch Tone? 😀

Should have read farther along to see the pic, sorry.
I have a preference for the 554 style myself, still have one in the kitchen and the garage.
They are touchtone!

Yes, those wall phones are nice. 554 should be rotary dial, with corresponding 2554 as the touch tone version. Desk models are similar… 500 for rotary dial, 2500 for touch tone.

Thanks for the memories. It has been so long ago I completely let that slip.
Either way you cant beat those old war horses.

I’ve had both a Google Nexus 5 and an iPhone 6S.

Between the two, I prefer Android. From a hardware perspective, the iPhone 6S was definitely better (easy given the release dates of the two), and there are things that I like such as 3D-touch. It also integrates with OS X well out of the box, but frankly, I can easily simulate that on Android by using PushBullet, and that can be used with Windows and Linux as well. PushBullet wasn’t as good on iOS when I tried it, but that was because of iOS’s limitations.

And it’s those limitations that get to me. I don’t want every browser to be a re-skinned Safari. I also want to have control over the default browser, especially on a system where Chrome isn’t the default. I don’t like that an address in iMessage can’t be opened in Google Maps or Uber because Apple only allows it to be opened in the joke that is Apple Maps. I don’t like that Apple blocks a lot of quality-of-life features Siri has from other, far superior assistants like Cortana and Google Assistant, making me choose between an assistant that actually works and one that is easily usable. I don’t like the fact that iOS has absolutely no support for custom launchers, which I used all the time on Android. I could go on, but I think it’s clear that I just don’t like the Apple ecosystem and their insistence on using their phone hardware, which I love, as little more than a way to put you in their ecosystem. It’s a tactic that would work for a company with really good applications, but Apple doesn’t have any.

But at least I did give iOS a shot, and it was a pretty good time to do it since I needed a new phone during a down year for Android (no Google or Sony phones, others dropped the ball, etc.) Apple’s philosophy when it comes to iOS just doesn’t work for me.

And yes, I did know that Apple was a bit of a control freak before going in. It’s hard to predict just how bad it is until you get in, especially when your only reference point is OS X, which doesn’t quite suffer from the same over-possession that iOS does.
