You got me thinking there @christofirst .It is, I believe, a Coral Tree, Erythrina, which happens to be the official tree of Los Angeles, even though it is not an indigenous species.

I like plants with trumpets , especially the pink angel trumpets , but beware , every part of the plant is poisonous .Yellow Trumpet, Brugmansia Suaveolens, with a plethora of blooms.
