These bright red flowers high atop this mighty tree caught my eye. It is, I believe, a Coral Tree, Erythrina, which happens to be the official tree of Los Angeles, even though it is not an indigenous species. Come to think of it, it is probably an appropriate choice for our culturally diverse city.

You got me thinking there @christofirst .

I wondered whether our County of Lancashire has an official tree .

It hasn’t , but this is the Druid’s Oak in Caton , Lancashire . 😃

We might never know .

I’ve just found this - - - - - - " The Ancient Oak, Caton, Lancashire, England, UK.
This old gnarled oak tree, sometimes called the Druid’s Oak or Caton Oak, is believed to be thousands of years old and now only has one branch which is supported by a metal frame. It grows next to the medieval Fish Stones.
Sadly the oak fell down under the weight of the new growth one month after this photo was taken."

I like plants with trumpets , especially the pink angel trumpets , but beware , every part of the plant is poisonous .

You’re right! Now that prompts my memory, a caladium is correct. Thankyou for IDing it for me. I’d love to have one myself. Saw this one at a show last year I think.
