What verse(s) is your favourite. The one that inspires you, and helps you when your feeling down?

I really enjoy Psalm 23.

“For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of affliction, to give you an end and patience.”
Jer.29:11(DRA) And also Psalm 40

there’s another active thread on this subject.

“Behold I am with you all days even to the consummation of the world.”

1 Corinthians, Chapter 13: “Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”

Philippians 4:8 For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are noble, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are amiable, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if any praise, think on these things. 9 What ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, these things do; and the God of peace shall be with you.

I’ve never seen another thread on this topic. :3

If there is, then I apologize.

James 2:26 For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Romans 8:38-39
“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor demons, nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Ephesians 6:13

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Romans 5:8 “For God shows his love for us in this: while we were still sinners Christ died for us.”

A while back I decided to go to Adoration for a great deal of time. They were having 60 hours of adoration for the Pope and being at home with nothing else to do, I decided to ‘fill’ in for all the hours that someone didn’t sign up for. (It’s a shame that there were indeed a lot of hours that had to be filled in.)

I ended up going for several hours a day, sometimes as many as 5. I took a bag with me full of books to read, a rosary, LOtH etc. I kept my mind occupied there in the presence of God trying to find something to do. While I was reading my bible one night I decided to read the Psalms, and my bible kind of ‘plopped’ open to Psalm 46… my eyes were drawn to this verse:

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

I realized that I had been filling my mind with everything, and anything… and not really ‘listening’ with my heart. That will always be one of my favorite verses. And Adoration will be one of my favorite times. It definitely changed the way I went about the remaining time.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

This single verse took me years to understand and even longer to practice.

John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

John Ch6 v68.
Simon Peter answered, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life,

Gal. 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

**15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16 “This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds." ** Heb 10:15-16 (from Jer 31)

These verses, more than any others, piqued my interest in Scripture and Christianity.

Psalm 16:7
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places ; yea, I have a beautiful inheritance.
7 I will bless the LORD, who has given me wisdom; my heart also instructs me in the nights.
Verse 7 above is the favourite, but v6 aint too shabby either, which is why i let it show up also

Some years ago i read it and decided to put myself to sleep instead of laying awake and going over things in my mind, and not trusting God. It worked and still does. This has nothing to do with dreams or such, but i just wake up with the right frame of mind in place to tackle what i need to, or to think a situation clearly through and make a decision.

Not to mention increased physical strength.

Matthew 26:26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had said the blessing he broke it and gave it to the disciples. ‘Take it and eat,’ he said, ‘this is my body.’
