I can thankfully say I have never heard any insulting remarks on Catholicism at work. My area has a lot of Catholics, though, so there is a lot of intermingling of Catholics, Protestants, Jews, etc.
BUT, I can say, I’ve run into anti-Catholics or at least people ignorant of the Catholic faith and the people while in college. I always stood up for my faith, but if the other person wasn’t hateful or had an agenda, I had a way of having an intelligent and respectful conversation with him/her in person without having it become ugly. We didn’t always see eye to eye, but they came off with more respect for me as a Catholic and that is always a good way to witness. I’d sometimes get these comments that I must be one of the exceptions because I was too “nice”, “happy” and “spiritual”, and surprised that I had a “relationship with God”, but they had no idea how many other Catholics are like that as well. They only knew what they were being taught at their churches, because they didn’t know many Catholics. Or their minds were clouded by certain events or individual people they knew, so always assumed the worst of the Church and Her faithful.

My wife is Baptist and I attend “Sunday School” with her sometimes at 9 am after my 7:30am Mass to keep the marraige “happy”. I learned this past Sunday in there that Pope John Paul II sold sainthood to more people than any other pope.
I truly was not aware of this before.
The things I hear at that church concerning Catholicism is maddening but I don’t give any of their ignorance concerning Catholicism any attention by responding to any of those stupid remarks.

Baptists tend to be anti Catholic, I’ve noticed before. I agree. I believe it to be because Baptists are the most ignorant of Catholicism and what we really believe.

This has never happened to me before (I’ve been out of work for like 2 years) but if it did, I would strongly defend the Catholic faith!

There were many nasty comments made during the Sex Scandals. As I do anytime the conversation becomes untenable, I stood up and walked away. Later, other coworkers would approach me and we could have a discussion without any type of recriminations.
I have shared on other threads how I used to attend various churches, after first going to Mass. I would hear prayers for the conversion of Catholics. After the service I would shock many by revealing my personal faith. Their reaction, especially when speaking of the Resurrection, was “I didn’t know Catholics believed that.”
Cursillo has a simple approach to evangelization. “Make a friend. Be a friend. Bring a friend to Christ.” How we live our faith has a greater impact than the words we use. Quoting St. Francis, “Preach the Gospel always and if necessary use words.”
