When a Lizard Can, Why Can’t We?
This is a true story that happened in Japan.
In order to renovate his house, a man in Japan breaks open the wall. Japanese homes normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls and after tearing the walls down, the man finds a lizard stuck to the floor, a nail from outside hammered onto its foot.
He sees this, feels pity, and at the same time curiously checks out the nail, which had been set ten years ago when the house was first built. The lizard had survived in such position for ten years in a dark wall partition without moving. It seems impossible and mind-boggling.
Then the man wondered how this lizard had survived for this long without moving a single step since its foot was nailed, so he dropped his work and observed the lizard to see what it had been doing, and what and how it had been eating.
Later, another lizard, with food in its mouth arrives. The man was stunned and deeply touched. Another lizard had been feeding it for the past ten years. Imagine. the lizard had been doing that untiringly for ten long years, without giving up hope on its partner.
Think, will you do that for your spouse?
Will you do it for your mother and father, who brought you up (your mother after carrying you for nine long months)?
Or at least to your brothers, sisters, friends and co-workers?
Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with a brilliant mind can’t.
