When a priest is no longer the shepherd

I remember when these things happened in my parish church ( the destruction of beautiful statues, and a nice altar)–beautiful stations of the Cross replaced by “modern” wooden ones.

I wonder if the Bishop instructed them to do this or if they just misunderstood Vatican 11’s instructions.

Ironically though (I grew up in Cleveland) another poster the other day said that a parish in Dayton Ohio is now exclusively going to have the Latin Mass. The irony–our church was named Holy Family and is now closed down.

The church in Dayton is named Holy Family! I wonder, is this a coincidence or are some of our good father priests in heaven have a little something to do with this.
 
It looks as though the bishop cancelled the EF Mass in order to prevent harm to the parish due to the Parish Council. When are PCs going to realize that their role is consultative only? It’s great to decide things by consensus but that requires that everyone behave like adults and not toddlers having temper tantrums. It would have been better to sack the Parish Council.

I have to question why, when there was a well attended EF Mass at that time, another group decided that they were more deserving of that time slot? Was it deliberate sabotage to get rid of the EF completely?

I agree with Finance Councils since having them oversee the parish finances can prevent what happened in the parish where I grew up when the administrator, who was Pastor for 1 parish and administrator for 3, helped himself to all 4 bank accounts.

At mine it was a Franciscan brother. Fortunately not everything was destroyed because parishioners fought to keep the high altar. It was both priests and bishops who did all this nonsense. Obviously none of them paid to install these artifacts in the first place but saw nothing wrong with destroying them.

It’s hard to believe isn’t it ? Just another example of the sweeping about face the post VII church has become.

Amen. The silly Novus Ordonians will not stop until they have made Newchurch™ completely Congregationalist once and for all. 😃

Ironically, there is a thread over on L&S with folks worried about what will become of the OF flock at a parish in Cincy that the Bishop handed over to the renegades 😃
