Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Matthew 7:23
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Thoughts on what it means to be “known” by God?

To me, to be “known” by God is to be known by the Person who created me. He knows me inside and out. He knows me better than any earthly parent, any earthly friend, better than any earthly spouse.

God knows things about me that even after 56 years, I do not know about myself. Because I believe this, I can trust that God will always do or allow what is right for me. He knows the limits of my soul. He knows the limits of my body and intellect. I believe the old saying that God will never give me more than I can handle. Sometimes I bite off more than I can chew, but God knows me better than I do.

Sometimes, in the olden days, it was said of a man and a woman that they “had knowledge” of each other. That referred to intercourse. That is the most intimate way that a man and woman can physically understand each other. But, that is not as intimate as the way that God knows us. He knows all of our thoughts, even before we know them.

Jesus said that those who knew Him, knew His Father, God. Jesus loved us so ultimately, therefore God must love us ultimately, too.

G*d is omniscient as well as omnipotent. In common words, He knows all, all of the time, and is all powerful.
As for your question: He knew you before you were a glint in your daddy’s eye!
