When are collections taken up for the offertory?

Does anyone know if a collection will be taken up tomorrow, the Immaculate Conception?

I usually write out checks beforehand and don’t bring a checkbook to church, and my wallet usually doesn’t have cash. I’m never sure when a collection is taken up, other than Sunday.
 
You could write a check out and if it’s not needed, pop it into the plate Sunday! 🙂
 
goodness, you don’t have envelopes? Can you possibly be attnding a bona fide Catholic church? (insert giggly smiley here, please)
there is one for all holy days and Sundays (and a bunch more besides), we need the lights, heat and/or AC today just like Sunday, need to pay for hosts and wine, and all the other expenses, just like Sunday. If the ushers do forget the collection (which has never happened in my 55 plus years as a Catholic, but who knows, it could happen) just save it for Sunday and consider yourself twice blest.

Yeah, we have envelopes, which is why I’m sometime caught off guard when a collection is taken up that I don’t have an envelope for. I’m not talking about “special second collections” either.

For instance, this morning, the feast of the Immaculate Conception, no collection was taken up. I didn’t have an envelope for it either. Earlier (possibly All Souls) a collection WAS taken up, which I also didn’t have an envelope for.

Not a big deal. I was just wondering if there were any guidelines, but it doesn’t seem like it. Even if there are, it doesn’t sound like you can necessarily rely on them being followed.
 
Hmm, I’ll have to double check my envelopes, but I’m pretty sure there isn’t one for today. There’s one for Christmas, and a couple for religious retirement contributions and missionary collections, but I think that’s it for extras.

You could just write out a check before Mass and if you don’t use it today, use it on Sunday. No big deal.
