I’ve wondered for some time, exactly when the Fatima devotions became popular in America and other parts of the world. To the best of my knowledge, Austria was one of the first places where they really took root immediately after WW2. Not sure about America, but pretty sure it was some time in the 1950’s.

Monsignor Colgan founded the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima( World Apostolate of Fatima) in October of 1947 in Plainfield New jersey. John Haffert joined with Monsignor a year later and they are regarded as the co founders. John Haffert devoted his life to promoting the message of Fatima and the related Brown Scapular Devotion.
The pledge that John and Sister Lucia developed spread from Plainfield New Jersey to the corners of America and across the World…

What are the 2017 plans for celebrating the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima?

Chicago is planning a very special celebration for the hundredth year anniversary. Holy Name Cathedral will be the site of an afternoon Mass with all the Chicago Marian groups joining together as we have done for the past seven years. We process the Pilgrim Virgin Statue, along with our various banners, representatives , and clergy. We will produce an hour long television show on EWTN focusing on Fatima and this Chicago event. The National Pilgrim Virgin Statue will be scheduled for a month long archdiocesan visit. www.bluearmychicago.org
