A religion is identifiable when it has systems that are followed by an identifiable group of people. Even a state/country is identified by systems or customs.
So when do we read that a system of worship was universally accepted by the Jews?
The Jews as we know them were separated while in Egypt through their father Jacob who was renamed Israel.
Their system of worship was formed as they journeyed through the wilderness of Sinai for 40 years under the leadership of Moses. It was fully formalized when they reached Canaan, and they built the temple where sacrifices were offered by the High priest.
The first high priest was Aaron, and the priesthood was from the tribe of Levi.
The Jewish religion was called Judaism.
The tribe of Levi earned their ordination by following Moses. When he had gone up the Mt. Sinai to get the commandments, the people turned away from God and started worshiping an idol. when Moses returned, he asked them, “those who are for God of Abraham to come go one side, those who are for the idol to go to the other side”. Only the tribe of Levi chose to go to God and were declared priests of God from that day.
