When did salvation occur?

Were the gates of heaven opened to us at the time of Jesus’ crucifixion or his resurrection?
Did Jesus only have to die to save us or did he have to die and arise?

Having said that, our personal salvation, as a finished event, is not actually accomplished until the outcome of our life has been accomplished. In Catholic teaching we have **moral **assurance of salvation (we have faith that God will accomplish our salvation if we presevere), but we do not have **absolute **assurance of salvation. In other words – there is no such thing as once saved always saved.

You are correct, “once saved, always saved” is heresy. It was never taught by Christ, nor His Apostles, and so-on through Apostolic succession was never and is still not taught by the Pope and Magisterium who by the Holy Spirit never has taught error in faith and morals in guiding the Church.
