Hi,
I have been attending Traditonal Latin Mass since Sexegesima Sunday and I have a quick question. When the priest makes the sign of the cross when beginning the prayers at the foot of the altar do the people do to. I know the people do when the priest says our help is in the name of the lord ( not going to try to type that in latin) and after the server says the confietor when the priest is pronouncing forgiveness.
Thanks for the help.
I am sure this would be same for high mass and low mass? I have attended both
Thanks

Yes, you can certainly make the sign of the cross with the priest at the beginning of Mass. Not all the times the priest makes the sign of the cross are for the people, but generally when he is saying something aloud and makes sign of the cross, it is fitting for the people to do so also.

If you have experienced servers, do what they do, (in high masses, the crossbearer and torchbearer) because generally they know the ropes.

This website lays out historically all the ways that Catholic done the sign of the cross. For instance, whenever you pass a Catholic parish to honour the presence of Christ in the Eucharist, whenever you’re in fear of danger, whenever you leave your household, etc…

Its not rocket science, but an act of piety.
