Hello,

Sorry if this is a wrong place to post it (and I fear it probably is). I couldn’t find anything better.

I have a question. I’ve been to confession about 2 weeks ago (maybe three) and I go to confession regularly - about once a month (ceteris paribus). Now, I know that we are required to go to confession once a year. Is there a specific time when we have to go? I don’t know, I just have a feeling that someone told me it must be before lest and that starts tomorrow. Can someone please enlighten me?

God bless!

Easter possibly best but no exact date during year is set.

(am i getting more illiterate…illetera…ill)

Gandalf,

You are not required to go to confession at a set time during the year. You are thinking of the “Easter Duty”, I expect. There is a requirement to receive communion at or around Easter, and for some people, this may necessitate confession at or around Easter.

You are just fine, don’t worry!🙂

Uh, in the United States I think the Easter Duty time is from the first Sunday of lent until Trinity Sunday (right after Pentecost). But I don’t promise it hasn’t changed since I was taught that. Also, it can vary by country.

we must confess our mortal sins at least once a year, and we must receive holy communion sometime during the Easter season.

i’m confused on what people go to confession about. what are the more serious sins that people would have to confess that they can’t pray to God and confess about? thanks.
