When should Mass be capitalized in writing? For example, “We are going to Mass today.”
 
In my opinion, you capitalize the word Mass whenever you intend to refer to the Roman Catholic eucharistic liturgy. Whenever the word is lowercased, it should refer to a large body of matter (e.g., “The doctor removed the cancerous mass during the operation”; “A mass of people gathered to protest the new legislation”).
