When do you pray?

Just curious. I usually pray when I wake up and before I go to sleep. It’s usually the Our Father, the Creed, the Doxology, and a Hail Mary and some basic prayers of thanksgiving for the Son and for today and for forgiving my weakness.

How does everyone else pray?
 
Every morning, I say the Morning Offering, Guardian Angel prayer, and green scapular prayer x2. Later in the day, usually at night with my family, I pray the rosary (5 decades) daily as a commitment to the brown scapular devotion.

Those are the main ones, but there’s always grace before meals, random prayers as needed, children’s prayers at bedtime, the Angelus a few times a month, Chaplet during Lent, etc. It’s funny how the prayers become part of my routine and to me it’s hard to add new ones, subtract, or make other changes.
 
I do the Morning Offering every morning when I get up with a Gaurdian Angel prayer. At night I pray the Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin Mary as a part of my consecration to Mary. I also pray St. Padre Pio’s Novena to the Sacred Heart. That is a beautiful prayer to say every night for all those people who asked you to pray for them.

I used to do Morning and Evening prayer from the Shorter Christian Prayer (a shortened version of the Liturgy of the Hours) but I have fallen out of the habit. It gets kind of confusing during Advent.

I try to pray a rosary every day but I don’t always have time. That’s something I’m working on - making time for prayer during the day. :o
 
LOL…I’ve tried to get a schedule going and you know what…it just isn’t happening…maybe one day I will…

I pray, in the vehicle (Rosary on CD) while shuffling the kid to school and picking up groceries, running errands…and…um…in the bathtub! Oh, I can get some good praying done in there when I’m being left alone.
 
I pray off and on all day - just talking to Jesus. My morning prayers are probably the weakest…not a good routine there, but I pray at meal times, and I pray all the prayers in the rosary with my children before we all go to bed. When we see an ambulance or fire truck, we pray a Hail Mary for the community helpers and the people they are helping. I pray for His guidance throughout every day and often pray to the Holy Infant of Prague, Mary and Joseph. I go through cycles of praying to different saints.
 
I pray the Morning Office as soon as I wake up (well, after I’ve gone to the bathroom), along with an Act of Consecration. Then I go to morning Mass at our parish, and when that’s over, I have enough time before I have to leave for work to pray a Rosary. In the evening I pray the Evening Office before I go to bed. Also, most of my time on the job or driving, I’m alone, so I have informal chats with The Boss.
 
I really don’t have a prayer schedule but I try to say one before I go to bed. Or if I feel the need to during the day.
 
I am able to go to morning Mass a few times a week. I pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet in the car - either on the way to school or while waiting in the car rider line to pick up my kids. I try to make time before bed to read and reflect some. A prayer before I go to sleep. And other times, as well. I have a prayer for priests in my bathroom…and sometimes when I have my 8th grade class, I really need all the help from Above that I can get!
 
Random times during the day when the opportunity arrives.

Otherwise my set time is a half hour when I go to bed for a half hour Rosary on my iPod. Good time to contemplate the past day and the next day and beyond. It also helps me sleep soundly most every night.
 
Morning offering while I’m putting on my Crucifix in the morning (that’s after the mascara and before the lipstick, so I don’t smudge Jesus when I kiss Him). Various short aspirations during the day, mostly thanksgivings. Thirty to forty-five minutes of mental prayer before 5:30 pm Mass, including daily prayers for the Holy Father, the Archbishop, and my family. Mass, followed by ten or fifteen minutes of thanksgiving. Brief examination of conscience, followed by Act of Contrition as I remove the Crucifix at night. Divine Mercy Chaplet as I fall asleep - I hardly ever get past the Apostles’ Creed, unless I’m really wide awake or upset about something.

Sometimes, I say the Rosary before Mass. I should really try to pray the Rosary more often.

Prayers for the helpers those being helped when I hear a siren or see a fire truck or ambulance. Quick greeting to Jesus in the Eucharist when I pass a Catholic church. Act of reparation when someone near me uses God’s name in vain. Grace before meals.

It’s time for the Divine Mercy. Good night, all.

Being in formation with the CFP, I say prayers in the morning, and before I go to bed. The Legion Of Mary Tessara as I go to work, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy as I leave work. Prayerful reading at odd times during the day and at work. All in all, about 90-120 minutes worth of prayer and devotional reading. At home, of course, these prayers may be done with Fluffy in my lap.🙂
 
I personally don’t have one particular prayer-ritual. When I pray at night, I tend to pray particular prayers that I’m drawn to at that time - sometimes the Rosary, sometimes a Compline, or sometimes I simply talk to God to give thanks for the day just passed. I then ask for God to bless the home and family through the night, to grant peace and protection; then I finish with some common prayers.

I also pray during the day - I like to give thanks to God for little things that I would normally take for granted… After crossing the road safely, just making it in time for the bus, or escaping a rain shower, I say ‘Thanks be to God’ - this is making myself conscious during the day that God is with me and that He is guiding me in every way.

Also, when I can - the greatest prayer of all: MASS!!

btw: I came across these prayers for Advent which can be used at morning or evening prayer:
  1. (for use ‘before December 17, the emphasis falls on the second coming’)
    “Ever faithful God, your prophets foretold the coming of the light. In your name they promised that the eyes of the blind would be opened. We confidently await the coming of your Son, and the day when He will gather all people to live in your light, for ever and ever. Amen.”
  2. (for use ‘between December 17 & 25, we prepare for the feast of Christmas itself’)
    “God, Lord of eternity, your Son came to visit us in time. Grant to each of us the heart of a child which never ceases to marvel at your wonders, so that once again this day you may find us watching in hope. We ask you this, because of your love for us, God blessed for ever and ever. Amen”
