LOL. I don’t mean to go off topic, but thanks for the post.

My husband and I are actually expecting our first child, due next summer. I’m sure that will be my life soon enough. 🙂
You know? It is really a wonderful life. I love having a family.

I actually enjoy cooking for them tremendously. Still, cooking for a family is still cooking for a family. It was the same when I went over and helped my friend with her 5 little ones. Although she did help me to learn the “mommy’s plate” feeding technique. Which is, a food on a child’s plate has a directly inverse relationship with being enjoyed, whereas food on Mommy’s plate —no matter how perfectly identical–has an astronomically larger chance of actually being consumed. By toddler, not mom. Sorry.

But I really see now how much time I fretted away and didn’t appreciate some of the unique positives about single life.

I really hate to see when singles stop doing things because it’s “just for them”. I think one of the reasons that my husband and I have a very healthy marriage is because we didn’t wait to build many of our traditions for marriage. We still bought the chocolate coins for St. Nicholas Day. (though as the stories go, hubby’s never made it to St. Nicholas day in his single years). We put up trees. We got decorations. We knew we wanted to be married but we lived VERY fully.

It’s still a personal decision, but I want to encourage those who feel like traditions are “just for families” not to fall into that train of thought.

And totally back to being off topic…are you far enough along to feel movement yet? When it’s constant you will likely have a moment of “what have I gotten myself into—I’m never going to be alone again”.
Actually, the traditions made me feel better about being single, even if I was decorating my apartment alone.

I’m not quite to movement yet…just barely exiting the first trimester. Not even really showing (but certainly feeling a change haha). It’s such an interesting combination of excitement, concern, and anticipation, but mostly excitement! 🙂 I’m sure that thought will go through my head at one point or another.

Well…I said I didn’t put up a Christmas tree for the Holy Days, but…

They always do an awesome job. Thanks.

My tree is up, outside lights going. Sis’s Hanukkah menorah up. First candle lit last night.

Stuff will be up until Jan 6.

We put ours up about two weeks before Christmas. It is an artificial tree.

Yes there is a monster err I mean cat in the house. He does’t bother the tree anymore since he knows I will get the “gun” out. It is not a firearm gun it is the kind that squirts water.

I have a beagle too, and all he does is kind of sniff around the tree until realizes that there is nothing edible there.

My favorite Christmas song. 🙂 Of course—hipster that I am—I was listening to it before Trans-Siberian Orchestra even existed. 🤓

Have you seen this house before. Took a lot of time and effort. It’s cool. I would be really impressed if they did all that work themselves, but that is doubtful. Still, its quite neat. If I was well off, it would be a fun thing to do and people would love it.

I wonder what their electric bill is come January. 🙂

Usually, we put it up around the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is coincidentally my mother’s birthday, we don’t do it because of that, because I’m like the only practicing Catholic(well, my older sister is) in my family, immediate family some of my dad’s relatives are Catholic. We put it up then, because like I said mother’s birthday. (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) this is the tree this year, we just don’t have the room for a bigger one. Plus, the animals like to play with the real trees.

When I lived in the Portland area, there was one neighborhood that the whole neighborhood got together for a spectacular display. Looked like the LV Strip, but was truly awesome.

Alsso, up there, if you drive around Greentree Rd., all woodsy road, you come around one bend to find one house decked out like Christmas Vacation.

I don’t put a tree up since I’m just a single guy
Same here. No Christmas tree at my house either, but I did set up the manger scene. I put up a pre-lit artificial tree for my mom over at her house last week, but we haven’t decorated it yet.

We will put the tree up in a week or so. Artificial. I have ornaments that have been in the family since the 50s/60s. Lights are already up but not on yet. No cat but that might change before Chrsitmas day.

I don’t have a manger scene ,as in crib, but I have a beautiful woven scene with the three kings approaching the manger at night with words underneath.Found in a great catholic supply shop in StLouis.
Still waiting for Christmas Eve to put a live tree up…and we have kittens now!🌲

Manger set is up, but Baby Jesus does get put in until Christmas.
