When does a mass "count"?

The question arpse recently with some friends: If a day ofobligation is on saturday, and a mass that is usually held at 18:00 saturday evening with the readings of sunday, but THIS day with the readings of saturday, for which day would the obligation be fullfilled with this mass?

Are the readings important, or ist just the intention important?
For example, I visit a mass saturday morning for the feast on saturday, and the mass above in the evening for sundays (witht he saturday-readings) would that fullfill the obligation for both days?

Are there any sources for this? I only found in the CIC that the obligation can be fulfilled with a mass on the feast itself or in the evening of the previous day, but I didn’t find it that enlightenig concrning the issue readings/intention/obligation.

Participating in one Mass meets one of the obligations. I do not believe that you will find very often a Holy Day obligation that lands on Saturday or Monday that is not dispensed or moved.
Many years ago researching the Liturgical Calendar. I found that Mass readings are required to be certain readings based on the Norms for the Lectionary which call for following the Liturgical Propers in the calendar. There are also two sentences at the end of a document on the new Lectionary that states that readings are to be the readings for that specific Mass. In other words if the Mass is intended to be celebrated for the Sunday Obligation then the readings must be those listed for that Sunday.
 
This doesn’t happen very often, but last year Christmas was on a Monday. Our parish had anticipated Masses on Saturday for Sunday, as well as 2 Masses on SUnday morning.

On Sunday evening, there were 1 or 2 Anticpated Masses for Christmas, and then 2 Masses on Christmas Day.

We went to Mass on Sunday morning for our Sunday obligation and on Sunday evening for our Christmas obligation. It was clearly stated that the Sunday evening Masses were for Christmas.

During Ordinary Time!

(It’s a joke, see? “Ordinary” in “Ordinary Time” refers to ordinal numbers. As in First Sunday, Second Sunday, etc. Ordinal numbers, counting, get it?

Ah, never mind.)
