Hi there I am just a little bit confused when does cheating become like a very grave.

analyze these situations:

Situation A: guy/girl cheats on his/her surprise math quiz

Situation B: guy/girl cheats on his/her finals exam with a copy of his/her notes.

Situation C: guy/girl cheats on a scholarship exam therefore

Situation D: guy/girl enters a contest/quiz bee then their answer is correct but the spelling is wrong. they did not copy or they didn’t have any intentions to cheat from other contestants but they did not bother to tell the truth.

Situation E: guy/girl enters a contest and he/she deliberately cheat in order to get a rank/honor. And as expected he/she wins the contest.

Situation F: guy/girl cheats on his/her licensure exams in order to get a job.

In which of these situations a mortal or a venial sin?
God Bless!

Each one of them is a sin.

As to whether they are grave matter or not, consult a priest.

As to whether they are a mortal or venial sin, that depends on whether the three conditions of mortal sin were met.

Cheating is wrong, just don’t do it.
