When does drinking alcohol become a grave sin?

At what point does drinking alcohol become a grave sin?

Drunkenness is, at least to my understanding, considered a grave sin in the Bible. But does it refer to habitual drunkenness, or does it refer to any one occasion when a person gets drunk? Also, does the state of being “tipsy” fall into this category of drunkenness?
