All Catholic churches in communion with Rome celebrate Easter together with the Vatican. It’s not location-sensitive.
Where in the world did you hear that ???

Even within the same Eparchy, it’s common to have some parishes on Julian, and others on Gregorian.

I know a Ukrainian Greek Catholic who’s parish is on the Gregorian and basically across the street there is another Ukrainian Catholic Church and that parish is on the Julian lol!

That’s what I thought but people corrected me here and I can’t just edit my posts. 🐿️

Refresh my memory: Which Eparchy are you in? I’m in the Archeparchy of Philadelphia and there’s one parish outside of Philadelphia which does celebrate Pascha according to the Julian calendar.

The Sunday of St. Thomas is the Second Sunday of Pascha. In the Latin tradition, it’s either Low Sunday or Divine Mercy Sunday.

True trivia tidbit to impress your friends: John 20: 19-31 is the Gospel for Thomas Sunday and Low/Divine Mercy Sunday. It’s one of the rare times that the Gospel is the same in both Traditions.

The Eparchy of St. Nicholas in Chicago also has a parish that is full on Julian calendar (Sts V and O)… and a few blocks away is the Cathedral which is full on Gregorian. I’m told that Sts. V and O started b/c of the calendar…it’s also still very ethnic and most everything is all in Ukrainian.

Eparchy of Phoenix
I’ll actually be at that cathedral for Pascha liturgy.

We’ll leave Tucson in time to get there, and drive on to Vegas afterwards. We’ll hit the burial service at St. Melany, assuming they have one.

We love Tucson (I was born there when my dad was a grad student at UofA and my brother also went to grad school there)! We have visited St. Melany on a coupe of occasions.

My wife’s parents met as students at UA . . .

come to think of it, a couple of decades ago, I attended a week-long workshop on Experimental Economics there (several years before Vernon got his Nobel prize). We played the same games commonly used, but for higher stakes. This was both to fund our stay (they targeted $100/day for us), and for them to see how both. the higher stakes and deeper economic knowledge affected the games.

For years, grad students there tried to beat the public good game without success (each player puts none, some, or all of his stake into the pot, which is doubled or tripled—then divided equally).

I’m the one that finally beat it 🙂
