Got into a discussion with a co-worker about what seperated us for the animals. We are different from the animals in that we are rational creatures; animals act on instinct. My partner maid the comment that animals can rationalize as well and also that instinct is just a lower form of rationalization.
So at what point does instinct become rational. We may run out of a building that’s on fire. What part of this is instinct and what is rationale? It was an interesting conversation that started with humans having a rational soul and animals do not have rational souls and lead to this. What would you have to say?
