When does transubstantiation actually take place?

The best description for me is a “Catholic Wannabe.” I do believe in the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist, however, there is one question I’ve never heard answered. Although I’ve attended various masses and watched them on EWTN, I still don’t know when “transubstantiation” takes place. At what point do the bread and wine become the true body and blood of Christ?

Hi,

The bread becomes the body of Christ when the words of consecration complete the sentence. When the object “body” (modified by the adjective “my”) completes the subject “This” and the verb, “is.” Once the thought is articulated: “This is my body,” the change takes place. The same goes for the wine becoming His blood.
